I noticed that edsamac has locked the thread made by bibbLe. I want to re-create the thread so that the Filipino CR community can also be updated with the current events, if they still haven't heard of what's going on within the Philippines.
Please READ THE RULES before doing anything stupid that might get this thread locked.

RULES

1. Please speak/type in English. (Not all Filipinos speak in tagalog, furthermore this is an INTERNATIONAL FORUM, meaning it's for everybody). NO TRANSLATION STUFF WHATSOEVER AS WELL. From time to time, there may be someone who's not a Filipino that will visit the thread, and may join in the discussion or ask about our culture.

Now before you start getting riled up and ask why we're forcing you to speak English, here are the pertinent reasons:

1. The CrunchyRoll forums is an International Forum and uses English as the medium of communication. No special considerations are given to individual members just because they are numerous or they have a thread dedicated to them. If this were the case, then there'd be utter chaos all over the forums.
_____________________________________________________________________________

2. Not all moderators can speak a language other than English, and in the case of this thread, not all moderators can understand Filipino. It's important for moderators to understand what you're talking about because they have to monitor and control any conflicts that occur within the forums. How can they moderate something they can't understand?
_____________________________________________________________________________

3. The forums were made for Everybody, not just a specific group of individuals. That said, none of you "own" this thread just because you are Filipinos. Time to time, someone who isn't Filipino may visit the thread and inquire about the culture. In cases like these, speaking English is best so as not to bring about exclusivity in the forums.
_____________________________________________________________________________

4. And this is the one thing that many of you forget... NOT ALL FILIPINOS UNDERSTAND FILIPINO. Many users on this network are of Filipino descent, but are living in a foreign country. In addition, many of these users do not speak Filipino because that is not the language they grew up with. So that they feel welcome, SPEAK ENGLISH so that they can join in on the conversation as well.
_____________________________________________________________________________

2. Only use/visit this thread to DISCUSS certain events currently happening or had happened IN the Philippines. Don't just say hello, and talk about personal stuff, at least join in the discussions as well. (Just saying hello and not joining in a discussion will be considered spamming). (No personal requests as well)
3. Please don't use this thread to chat with other Filipinos, or troll on this thread.
4. NO ADVERTISING.
5. NO RACISM.
6. Oh yeah, please stop with the "Proud to be Pinoy!!" It's considered spamming, in relation to rule #2.
7. When quoting/replying/responding, please have an answer that makes sense, have it no less than ten words, and stop beating around the bush = GET TO THE POINT.
7.5 As for quoting, please just quote the message you want to quote, as it takes a lot of space.
Like this, an example of quoting and re-quoting:

************************************************************************************************************************************
Follow these rules before doing anything that can piss off the mods.

For the mods: you may edit the rules, and add more to give emphasis. You may also lock this thread if it's already pissing you off.
************************************************************************************************************************************
I know there are Filipinos who understand what I am saying, and there are those that are intelligent enough to follow the rules.
************************************************************************************************************************************
IF YOU'VE GOT NOTHING GOOD TO SAY, DON"T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL, Just shut up about it.

Mmkay. Here we go? Talking about the bombing at the South entrance in the House of Representatives, do you really think that it was done to divert the public's attention away from the impeachment complaint against the President? Or it is just purely terrorism? Or is it only an act of the enemies of the late Cong. Akbar? (may his soul RIP)

It could mean anything. As far as it goes, the whole thing is fishy, especially since we're talking about the house of representatives. Not that they aren't important, it's just that they're the little fry, so expending such an amount of effort to bomb them is clearly some kind of diversionary tactic.

But if you were to ask me, the impeachment complaints against Gloria won't push through. With the way she's played her cards, she's pretty much got all the political protection that she needs. Plus, I think it's such a weary topic that it's beginning to just lose taste altogether.

Now regarding the Supreme Court's decision to continue investigating Estrada's property acquirements and such are more the controversial topics now. He said he worked for it, others say he bought it from the money he laundered. At least it's clear that the presidential pardon only covered his sentence, and not the further rulings of the court.

Well, just now I read from the news that the Impeachment complaint against Pres. Arroyo is what we call an "empty" impeachment complaint, which is also admitted by the opposition, meaning there is not much evidence to support the claim. As it was stated by House Speaker JDV on a statement he made on an interview regarding the bombing.

^ True... it is an "empty" complaint, since the main players are already on the side of Arroyo (i.e. Erap's Lackeys). For sake of political face, they won't dare betray Arroyo for relieving Erap of his reclusa perpetua.

I just want to say that there is a Philippines group which you guys might be interested and might want to join: http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Philippines

I am not quite sure of posting a Philippine group link in the Philippine thread allowed, but since it has something to do with Philippines, it should be fathomable, I deem.

~ I am also quite not updated with Filipino news, and didnt have any idea that an impeachment thing was motioned against Arroyo, what I know, is that the prices are very high, in the provinces, I heard from my cousins that eggs cost 5 pesos each now, Powdered milk is 500 pesos and I wonder how expensive the other things now too. The dollar value is declining, but the economy isnt getting better, its very hard for people here in abroad giving money to our relatives when the dollar value is down. I hope the government can start rising, though it is quite unexplainable how they will pay the debt of Marcos. Tourism is also getting less because of the Terrorists that wants to overthrow our corrupt government. I wonder what will happen to Philippines in the future.

I locked the old one, since people were just greeting and breaking rules left and right. It's nothing short of spamming, and it's pretty much like how people used to type in one word responses. To start all over again, I left a message on my lock post saying that anyone can restart the thread, but they should limit it to a discussion thread. No pointless "I'm a Filipino too!!!" posts allowed.

^ actually, it was due to a chemical reaction in the septic tank in one of the CRs. I find the story a little fishy, but meh.

I think you're confusing certain things here. First of all, the terrorists that are... well... terrorizing the country are a part of a wider network of terrorists (the al quaeda) and they don't really seek to topple the government, since they only reason they do so is because the Arroyo government agreed in joining America's "War against Terrorism".

You're confusing terrorists with rebels, such as the MILF in the south, and the NPA in the north. As far as tourism goes, I believe it's doing better than it has been for the past few years.

Tourism has played it's part in helping our economy strive so far. It has not declined but is still booming. The stats don't lie, here's the link from the Philippine Department of Tourism. http://www.visitmyphilippines.com/images/ads/119b9833b29896e612b54c2c9ea34276.xls

The worst for aside the bombing of lower house is the 12 year old kid who committed suicide because of poverty in Davao.. it's like Oh My God, it makes me stunned and shocked for a while... and think that what is happening to our country... yes the economy is getting better but the poor are getting poorer.. I watched a documentary of college students about that incident and yes, it made me cry... do we need a single innocent life to spare just to address that poverty is rampant in our own country?? well do your share.. a prayer will do..
