Blu-ray is more advanced than HD-DVD, and with so many companies supporting it, I'm assuming Blu-ray will win compared to HD-dvd, I recently heard the success of both is not primarily based on the games systems, but most importantly on major video rental companies like block buster and netflix.

on the contrary. remember the vhs and betamax? the betamax lost because (oddly enough) they decided to not allow porn companies to place their movies in their videos. now, the producers of Blu-ray did the same, so it'll possibly lead to its own downfall. = /

Downloading is number one for me, then comes the dvd's and blu-ray I probably will never use and I don't think the world will use it. I haven't seen many blu-ray disks in the stores and not a lot of people have the systems. I think they will never have it either. Come on face why would you want to have systems for it and have the money for disks that are like 10 times more expensive than dvd's. Maybe the disks are more advanced and better, I never watch one so I wouldn't know and in fact probably never will know.

To me downloads/online streaming is cheap, since I'm not a money bank and I buy dvd's, because I like the movie or series and want to support the persons who made it. I think the dvd's are already beautiful and perfect enough, and maybe I'll consider blu-ray if it replaced the dvd's and is a lot cheaper.

A well that's just my opinion, don't hate me for it. ^_^

It's a shame porn can be such a big factor in this, but honestly how could blu-ray benefit the porn industry, I mean beside a clearer picture and more length[which are all available via internet], what other benefits could the porn industry receive with blu-ray?

Longer and more uncut videos. MORE WOMEN!

....*Cough*...

My opinion is that blue-ray would win. The HD-DVD is just too small and things are just getting bigger. Honestly though, why should the porn company's listen to them? Don't they have the freedom to put whatever they on a disk?

I am from the future and will tell you the results. Destroy, destroy, destroy.

Dude you can get undiluted Blu-ray downloads off the internet for free if you know how to find them. Internet pawns because most people are cheap lazy bums. I rest my case.

This is a three dimensional thread by the way.

I think legally purchased internet downloaded content like from itunes and other places will replace Blu-rays and DVDs.
Benefits of having "Legal" Downloaded content
-You can back up(on back up HDD or anywhere else) the downloaded content(you can't legally do that with blu-rays or dvds)
-no other hardware requirements(like blu-ray player or dvd player) to play downloaded contents (other than performance requirements)
-dont have to worry about disc getting scratches or breaking thus making the disc unreadable
But then again
-you still have to deal with DRM and possible Region Restriction
-depending on where you buy it, the videos may only have one track(one language) like in iTunes where all the anime shows have the english dub only
