Applications are currently CLOSED!

We will make a decision and announce the results in the News section by the end of the week.

________________________________________________________________________

It's that time again! As you all know, crunchyroll has a handful of super duper awesome helpful moderators around...(check out the staff page!) They've been doing an awesome job at approving new videos as well as keeping the site spam free! So if you want to help out CR, just apply for a moderator position below~

There are 8 slots open - 3 ForumMods and 5 MediaMods.

Description:

ForumMod - review the forums, make sure no one is posting inappropriate topics, spamming, or trolling. You know, the usual =P. You'll be moving topics around, deleting inappropriate posts, banning people, and deleting spam accounts. A ForumMod will also have MediaMod status.

MediaMod - review all incoming uploads to make sure they are appropriate for cr. If they are mislabeled or labeled unsuitably, you will relabel them so they are easily searchable and organized. You can also add descriptions to videos and series, as well as moderate video comments.

If you'd like to be one of these, please apply below! NO OTHER POSTS EXCEPT FOR APPLICATIONS! Applications are due Monday MAY 19th 2008! We will be using PST (GMT -8) so make sure to hand your application in before this counter hits 0!

To apply, fill out the following:

1) Which position(s) do you want?

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)

3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?

4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?

6) What is your timezone (in GMT)? [added by edsamac]

As always, I (and the other mods) will be reviewing your past activity (maturity in forum posts, number of uploads, dedication and willingness to help out, quality contributions to the forums, etc etc) Loyalty and commitment is a big plus! =D

Disclaimer: Remember that this is a volunteer position, and it is often a lot of hard work. Mods will get stressed out at times. It's not easy, but its often rewarding because other cr members will look up to YOU! ;P

Thanks for reading! Good luck everyone~

~~~~~~~~~~~~
General Reminders for posting of Applications
Some things you should remember and keep in mind when posting your application
1. Post applications in simple text
Don't add color or type your entire application in bold. Give others an equal chance of being recognized. Your applications will be read ~ don't worry about it.
2. Type legibly
Type in whole words and don't alternate uppercase characters with lowercase characters. The manner in which you present yourself is also considered when you apply, so make it a point to present yourself properly.
3. Make the position you'd like to apply for clear
Don't be vague and say "any will do". Be clear for what position it is you'd like to apply for, and if you want to go for both, make that clear as well (and answer the respective questions completely).
4. Post applications only
Don't hyperlink to another site or page, and don't post anything that isn't related to your own application. Keep things simple and sweet.
5. Follow the application format
Answer the questions according to number. Don't change the order, and don't add things that aren't asked for (although explanations for a given answer are reasonable). Any post that doesn't look like the application format will either be considered void, or will be deleted.
And finally, good luck to you all! I'll be looking forward to working with you, in the event that you should be chosen.
hey there ;P
1) Which position(s) do you want?
- I'm interested to be a media moderator.
2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
- I'm the kind of person that likes to fill other people's needs before myself. I'd like to be the kind that people can depend on for help x]. If there is any need for help, i'm likely to volunteer first. Even though I do not have a wide range of knowledge to anime, I will do my best to label them precisely for people to find their desired search on their first try.
I've also experienced the wait of a new episode in a favorite anime series, but that doesn't mean that I am applying for this position conviently for my own purposes. It'd be worth it if I can approve videos to relieve people's patience, because I've recently have begun to search for people to fansub an anime that no one else is willing to sub in order to satisfy them (and me x]) in order to finally finish the series.
I got past experience of making music videos so I can detect if there's even a second of inappropriate images like you see in those youtube videos ;P. I also have been a forum mod for other forums and a GM(game master) as supporting a community of 2k+ members so I know my share in dealing with much pressure and helping users ASAP. Dealing with spam, chain letters and spoilers(manga readers) would be part of my territory as well if I am accepted. ;D
3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
- Most of cr videos I have watched are anime, while some other videos i watch are music or drama. ;o
4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
- N/A
5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
- I spend quite some time considering my addiction for CR at the moment ;P. The minimum I spend time to CR 2-3 hours daily. Some days, I am on often if I am watching my favorite anime or have nothing to do. But I am willing to extend my hours to meet standards of this position. x]
6) What is your timezone (in GMT)?
- Eastern Standard Time, GMT -5
thanks for reading my application xP
1) which position/s do you want?
Any of the two would be great, but I lean a little bit more to being a forum mod because im in there almost every time im in CR.
2) What makes you suitable for this position?
I like anime, is that good enough? jk jk I can also read, so if something is wrongly titled or something has no description, im likely to try and find it. Though if I know of it myself, ill most likely write it from my own knowledge.
3) What type of CR videos are you most familiar with? (anime, drama.....)
I watch mostly anime, but I have seen some drama like The Master of Tai Chi and alot of martial arts dramas are usually what I see, but ive seen other types like 200 lbs beauty. I used to dab into the manga section but not anymore for obvious reasons......... but anime makes up for that!
4) Forum Mod only: whats your mod style? how would you handle hostile CR users, etc?
Well, I dont have a style yet, but id try to keep it pg-13. And even then, the line for pg-13 can go into rater R or worse, so it would really depend on the stuff their talking about. Like if your in the Anime section and your talking about cars, it better be initial-D or else your getting an earful from yours truly! or should I say type-full..... How to handle hostile CR users? well, i would give them a warning. if they stop for a while but try to pic up where they left off, then a second warning would be issued. third is the last one and depending on the subject, a ban would be placed. If its someone who is just spamming and spamming after a warning or two, then thats a ban too. It all depends on the subject, so the farther away from pg-13, the easyer the ban comes.
5)How much time do you spend on CR? how much time would you dedicate to it?
I spend about 1-2 hours every day and more on weekends (after kendo im just on my computer, not to mention most of my homework involves typeing). I could dedicate 2 hrs or more on weekdays and weekends are pretty much unlimited after 3pm saturday and 12pm sunday. of course, times are subjected to change
6) Pacific time GMT-8, GMT-7 during daylight savings time. (GMT is like the beginning universal time, im 8hrs behind it in CA)
Hope I can help out and thanks for reading (man I hope i qualify )
1) Which position(s) do you want?
Forum Moderator, preferrably.
2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
I'm online every single day and when I'm not busy gaming, completing homework or doing other activities, I lurk forums such as this one for hours on end. If I can gain access to certain videos or if I have the time and effort to create an AMV, I upload them immediately to CR.
Experience and Skills:
- Been part of staff whether it'd be a moderator or administrator of a forum (references available upon request)
- General programming knowledge of Java
- Able to work well with others and accept constructive criticism (Considering the number of Mods there are on CR, I'm pretty sure they'd have to work together occasionally on certain issues)
- A passion for visual arts. Possess the ability to draw well and work with Photoshop (Advanced Visual Arts and Computer Art at school is pretty awesome)
- Great hand-eye coordination (a skill perhaps? I play an awful lot of FFR and StepMania everyday, lol)
- Able to repair electronics and rewire circuits (Another skill, though I don't think this has anything to do with CR)
3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
Anime and Music. Member videos if applicable.
4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
Pending on the situation, I deal with certain trolls and violations differently. If it's consistent spamming on the forum, I'd personally ban the person for an extended period of time and delete their posts. If the violations were to continue after the ban were to be lifted, a definite permaban is needed. If it's a user's first offence, a warning is given to the user. Further violations will most likely result in a ban as well.
5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
Weekdays: ~5 hours at most.
Weekends: ~8 hours at most.
Although I might seem to be online CR all the time, I'm definitely online when it comes to MSN. I check back here every few minutes to lurk. Weekdays, I'm generally online between the times 6pm-12:30am EST. Weekends, I'm generally online between the times 2pm-3am EST. (Yes I know, seems like quite a large amount of time but to be honest I have nothing better to do with my time besides gaming, lurking, anime, music, etc.)
If I'm granted the position, I'd probably be able to squeeze in an extra 2 hours on the weekends. Weekdays, though I can't guarantee this, I might be able to squeeze an extra hour. Overall, this depends on how much homework I have from school and whether I have a certain task to deal with.
6) What is your timezone (in GMT)?
GMT - 5 Eastern
- All videos that I uploaded always contain a number of information.
I'm not sure if I'm eligible as I've only been recently posting on crunchyroll after signing up only in February, but I'll give it a go in applying. :)
1) Which position(s) do you want?
Forum moderator.
2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
Though my experience with forums does not lie with crunchyroll itself, I've been involved with many other sites in the past as well as the present. Since all the communities in which I've been around seem to be of mixed population (younger users and older users), the tendency for disagreements between members were always at a constant. Learning how to handle those and/or seeing how those situations were handled may help in the long run.
3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
I am familiar with anime as well as dramas that are found on this website. I am an avid watcher of Korean and Japanese dramas.
4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
My moderation style would have to depend on the situation being presented. It can be malleable according to the circumstance, but generally I have more of a 'work-it-out' or 'civil' methodology. Being articulate, polite, and a listener is usually the way I like to approach disagreement (which I know only tends to work if I have compliance).
For myself, I have a three-time warning policy before I decide to use some drastic measures, but this also depends on the type of offense which is usually up to my own discretion. Of course, if I cannot handle the situation in regards to a hostile CR user, then I would consult another moderator to make his/her own assessment on the matter.
5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
I spend a lengthy amount of time on CR, despite being a relatively new user. There's so much to be seen on this site that one can waste endless amount of hours delving into the world of Asian media. My time on CR has been limited though, I will admit, because of final exams for my courses in college.
As for the time I will be able to dedicate to CR, I will say that I am a night owl and will most likely be prowling in the wee hours. Summer time is coming and I've only a prior engagement during the first part of the day -- my nights are generally free.
6) What is your timezone (in GMT)?
Eastern Standard Time or GMT-5
Eastern Daylight Time or GMT-4
Thank you for reading this.
