hahaha, i would of thought this would of been done but this should be fun, think of anime ur not limited to one per post, just off the top of your head, of big refrences of the church or Christ in anime, rather it is direct or indirect. This should be fun:

My first goto reference would be Trinity blood, the symbolism is in the name as well as the show.

Next we have chrono crusade, lot of church references at least.

And of course if death occurs where do corpses or the funerals take place? Church's.

I am reminded of Full Metal Alchemist a lot, rather its the grave yards, or taking God's work in our own hands, alchemy is men trying their hand at creation. well thats all I got off top of my head, keep it going should be fun.

Most Christian symblosism in anime is usually Catholic oriented and given in a negative light. In Samurai Champloo they made missionaries to be like bad people who want to cause trouble (If I remember it correctly, I stopped watching it for that reason)

And I hope you aren't saying that alchemy is good judging by your last post.

There are a LOT of animes that focus on christmas (especially the part about giving corny wrapped up presents to boyfriends/crushes) lol. But none of them really focus on the true meaning of Christmas so does it count?

High School Rumble, Card Captor Sakura, Bokura Ga Ita, Lovely Complex...on and on...those are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head...

Yo trigun.
many references.
Wolfwood dies bearing his cross on his shoulder in a church.
Dude took up his cross and followed God in the end

"we are not god we do not have the right to choose who lives or dies"

plus a lot of quotes from the show remind me of christian values..

haha, no i do not approve of alchemy, although it was a good show, it explained the moral ramifications of altering life. Im not catholic and nor was my referencing suppost to imply that, i do not agree catholics are christians. I was merely referencing Christian aspects in anime.

on a side note, most catholics are given in the negative light, possibly the whole persecution of the Jews and the blood libel acts, not to mention the crusades.

but back on track, if it references the trinity, thats a Christian aspect. and that was my intentions, so with that, lets continue this little game. Here's another example, grace is widely popular in anime, just hints and subtle examples make them hard to spot. How about in romeo x juliet, (SPOILER) when juliet sacrifices herself for her beloved town, not to mention romeo.

About the Christmas... That is so true. they're not focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.

I remebered Prince of Tennis. The tenipuri part where they are all in chibi form, Ryoma asked what Christmas is about and Momo said it was all about gifts and food and then kaido pointed out santa which means the true meaning of Christmas is santa...

I think in a very small number of anime, they try to point out that the true meaning of Christmas is love, but this is only half-right...the true meaning of Christmas is Jesus, and Jesus IS love.

But the fact that the majority of anime Christmases focus on the giving of gifts--rather I should say the SHOPPING FOR gifts--is a bit disturbing to me. It's already been commercialized enough, and that doesn't really help. Granted it's anime, so it's still cute, but still...yeah...

Unfortunately, that is the "Americanized christmas". If that's not clear let me explain, america is so gung-ho on removing God and the bible from everything and being a neutral nation, that our christmas, and as a figure head in the world, the worlds views on christmas have changed aswell.

Let's put the Christ back in Christmas!

I am baffled about how there aren't as many as i first anticipated. I was positive there was more out there then trinity blood, blood + (good one forgot about that) and little tid bits here and there. I think i before mentioned it but its not hard to find an anime that mentions angels or heaven. but to what extent is another matter.

(that will do it for me i have a final and 2 hrs and i should get some sleep)

take care and God Bless;

Isn't our society in America great, we are not aloud to speak of Christ, but we have to hear mindless dribble from every other faith. It sickens me that we are becoming the minority.

I think we should be thankful that we live in North America. Just cause maybe you guys feel that chrisitianity is being hushed in Amercia be thankful that you can praise God freely in a church every Sunday. Or have the opportunity to witness and philosphies with each other. In other countries the presecution of being a christian is so extreme it saddens me to think it actually does happan. People are killed everyday just for stating the fact that they believe in God. Last Sunday our church read letters of someone who was persecuted for being a christian. They had to hide in a basement with the windows borded and doors locked just so they could have a bible study. Unfortunately her brother was late to arrive and he got jumped while they went to allow him in. You and I are very fortunate that we dont have to worry about our lives being in jeopardy everyday just because we have a certain belief. So remember to be bold when you talk about christ, as us being more fortunate it is our responsibility in my opinion to do everything we can to share God's messege! Just a side thought.
