If you refer to someone as being black, without directing it as an insult, it's not racism. Simple as. It's more offensive to call every black person African, because then you'll definately offend someone. you can call them african-british. simple as that. In Britain, there's no such race. On the forms you fill out, it says Black-British. Therefore, that must be correct. Or everyone would be suing the forms. If someone's not from African decent, let's say Jamaican, I'm sure they'll actually find it rude to be called African. By beating around the bush, it's indirectly becoming rude. It's like not wanting to say the colour black altogether. In conclusion, the word "Black" when referring to someone, is not offensive. And neither is it seen as being politically incorrect. It's a skin colour. You're not going to refer to someone as being a race they're not, so the easiest way around it is "black". coz here, it's a racial case. that's all i know. havent been to england or whatnot but for me, the easiest is just call em from their nationality. dont need their race/ethnicity or anysort. To be honest, it really just depends on the person. My grandfather was this really stubborn half-indian, half-black man who lived in America refused to be called African-American, but rather, black. So I can see your point, but it shouldn't be claimed to be a racial thing. No one will be arrested for calling someone "black". Or sued. Because, if the person is black, why are they taking offense, unless they're ashamed of their colour? im not of african descent so i dont really know. but, i guess it depends on a person. in our school here, our teachers doesnt like to adress people "black". that's what they said so we follow it. Wow..Black can be used to describe someone or used in a racial term it just depends on how you use it...Im jamaican and my skin tone is black and im very much proud of it....anyways HALLE BERRY is very pretty and one of the best actress out there..
