Gay-Straight Alliance and LGBT FTW~! Everyone deserves the right to love.
It bothers me that people who are not gay try to say it's immoral and should be illegal.... I have NEVER seen a homosexual tell a heterosexual that their marriage is wrong or disgusting, or shouldn't be allowed. Who CARES what gender you are attracted to? If you love someone you have the right to be with them. Anybody who says otherwise is in for a long speech from me when I run for local political office. I know that since I'm straight I can't empathize with the pain and torment felt by those ridiculed and outcast due to their sexuality, but I can say this: Berating someone for being homosexual is verbal abuse, as much as it is when you put someone down for their race or gender. |

While I don't care much for the word marriage, it'd be nice to have it but I can live without it, I would like to have a chance at getting the same economic benefits any married couple can.
Here's a list of said benefits. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/marriage-rights-benefits-30190.html If the damn word is so important to you (and hasn't already been devalued by celebrity marriages and the fact that half of hetrosexual marriages end in divorce) then keep it. But don't deny me and my hypothetical spouse the same benefits any married couple gets. I pay my taxes the same as any other American so I feel it's only fair that I be entitled to the same rights as any other American. Key words being "the same" |

karmacide wrote: That was actually pretty enlightening, I didn't know that same sex civil unions wern't recognized for federal benifits. I thought that was the point of allowing civil unions in the first place. Yeah, you can thank the Defense of Marriage act for that. Using my state as an example... The Nevada domestic partnership law does not, and cannot, give domestic partners all the rights and responsibilities of marriage. In 1996, the federal government passed the Defense of Marriage Act (“DOMA”) which defines marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman for purposes of all federal laws. DOMA allows the federal government to refuse to recognize same-sex unions and deny them any and all of the federal benefits provided to married couples. DOMA also allows the states to refuse to recognize same-sex unions. http://www.aclunv.org/category/issue/lgbt/domestic-partnership-guide Nevada is really good about providing most of the benefits of marriage through civil unions, but there's still limits on what the state can give. |

I am all for Gay marriage! Also as someone who isn't straight I think we should all have the option to marry who we like...whether it's a man or women at the end of the day it's love, gender doesn't change that or make it wrong
I guess everyone has different views on this subject, some I agree with and some I strongly disagree with. Thankfully the world is becoming more accepting of gay people and also gay marriage (even if it is happening slowly). I hope that more places with legalise gay marriage so they can be happy with their loved one just like straight couples. |

YouAreDumb wrote: Seriously, I have never seen a group full of crap more than the anti-gay marriage advocates. Every single one of their arguments is so easy to tear down, it's almost shameless. Let's take a look, shall we? -Gay marriage doesn't fall within the definition of a traditional marriage. Slavery was also a tradition for thousands of years. Do you want to bring that back too? -Gays would be bad parents and therefore shouldn't marry. Not only is there no evidence for the claim that gays are worse parents than straights, but their argument is incredibly selective. Do they advocate the abolition of marriage for smokers, drug users, murderers, rapists, or even convicted child abusers? No. That's right, according to them, a pedophile can get married as long as he's straight because he'd only be a bad parent if he (or she) was gay. -Gays can't have kids. An offshoot of the previous one. And of course they don't apply this to the elderly or women who had their ovaries removed due to cancer, for example. -My religion doesn't allow for gay marriage. Too bad. We don't live in a theocracy and your religion therefore doesn't matter when it comes to making laws. Not only this, but the vast majority of the world religions don't condemn homosexuality the way that the three Abrahamic religions do. Why is your's more important than theirs? For me, I don't mind if a gay couple wants to form a relationship, as long as it doesn't involve me. But for the fact, that some groups/people are truly agaisnt it with no better reason, that I've heard so far (if we are not going to count YouAreDumb's statement's) makes me sick and want to be ashamed of myself. My answer would be, that I'm not against the gay marriage anyhow, and whatsoever. But I would like to point out, that anti-gay advocates having arguments about this topic and taking it too personally doesn't help them nor make changes that way... |

I'm for gay marriage. the reasons for not letting us gay people get married is pure bullshit. I fine everyone should do as they please. it's not like anybodies forcing you to do homosexual acts, so get over yourselves.

going in a bit of the dark/creepy side :D .

I'd say that it hardly matters, as long as the individuals getting married are all sapient and consenting.
