lol, well, basics first, ur utensils, learn how to chop dice etc, i got the privilege to see my mom grand ma and my chef dad cook, and they taught me, lol, although the difference between me in them is like heaven and earth, im pretty decent, all u need is heart, haha, "god of cookery" movie quote, but yeah, get the motivation and experiment like sautee onions and garlic, tamper with spices, get the taste and when u get em down, boom, but, haha, when u got slicing and dicin done, if interested, i can give u basic dishes

It's either you buy a cookbook or watch those cooking shows. The best way is to just experiment, know the taste of your ingredients, know the utensils, and know how to handle them.

i'd say...learn from a person directly from that country (it's the best way....at least for me!)!!
japanese- i'd say starting off with sushi, rolls, and onigiri is the easiest....
italian- ummm....not sure...pasta?? (spaghetti???LOLLL!!!) i LOVE the food!! the cookbook is my best friend at this point....i haven't met someone that came from italy (and can make GOOOOD food) yet....

As stated by Nakapagpabagabag, there already threads for discussing this.
