i agree with you.
it embarrasses both the parent and the child when things like that happen in public.

In my neighborhood, parents often publicly discipline their children. I've seen it go from parents just yelling at their children to spankings. I'm not fond of children but when I see a parent discipline their child, it makes me cringe a little bit. Parenthood isn't easy but I feel that there's always a better way to deal with children than screaming at them or hitting them. I feel that most parents can wait until they're home to deal with it. Besides it being publicly embarrassing to the child, it can be embarrassing for the people who see it as well. That is why I'm against publicly disciplining children.

What are your thoughts on this?

That's probably one of the times where you can really show your child that whenever they do something bad, they'll get punished anytime and anyplace. So, I'm pretty much pro-public discipline -_-

Its embarassing as a parent to see your kids causing scenes in public, but the only way to get them to stop is to inturn embarass them in public. Yelling doesnt really work, unless used as threats such as .... "When we get home your gonna get the 'bloody hairy' belt." I always wondered where my parents kept it. haha. Anyways, I just moved to Japan, and the kids here are incredibly well behaved. Seems as if we dont know how to treat our children in America
