So I was in the middle in science class and half asleep. We were getting into the topic of evolution and all of a sudden this kid shouts, "Evolution doesn't exist, God made man!" So then everyone gets into this huge agreement on evolution. Basically I got really pissed off and told them that obviously we evolved from monkies a long time ago and they asked we why would there still be monkies if their suppose to evolved..

So anyways.. WTF theres no agreeing with evolution -_--' right? Great i feel like a returd.

its all on everyones opinions i believe that we are here from evolution but that evolution is caused by a greater power other than science do too if things were just slightly diffrent such as temperature climate etc we would be completely diffrent so im kinda in the middle of there being a god and evolution

But we have things like cars and AC. if we didn't have technogly then there probably wouldn't be so many fat people and we'd look different. In like 1000 years their going to find a way to have super way to lose weight.

its too bad more young people don't understand evoulution in detail as the concept is fairly difficult to grasp for most children and even most adults I speak to don't understand it. I would recommend:

http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2300 on the descent of man in regards to your questions about 'man and monkey'

http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/1228 on the origin of species

It is alot of text to digest but it is worth skimming through it, although if you have not had any training to read texts such as this don't bother.

And I am saddened my your mistust of scientists bellus, its unfortunate you feel this way.

Further, regarding sypris' comments which alluded to what is commonly known as Intelligent Design, I think Ken Miller takes the whole idea apart so forcefully I need not say anything, that is if you have the patience to listen and digest what he's saying. he's making the case for keeping ID out of the school system in the US.

Although Dan Dennett on this ep of Philosophy Talk is much more understandable than Ken and is highly recommended. http://www.philosophytalk.org/IntelligentDesign.htm

I find this argument umm interesting:

'they asked we why would there still be monkies if their suppose to evolved..'

As cbisram said it's a complicated issue and their argument seems pretty weak! Someone who understands the topic properly could explain this more accuratly! Doesn't evolution invlove many changes and create many branches- why would all monkeys be non-existent because of humans?
I also think that it's become 'fashionable' lately to not trust scientists which is why many people beileve in more religious ideas of creation. I'm not saying that they are wrong though- I can't prove that at all.

Well, you shouldnt believe everything scientists say. A lot of things are just glorified opinions disquised as scientific hypothesis. Or like that high profile case in Korea (i think) with the guy who said he cloned a human but it was all a hoax.

but in this case, I find evolution a lot more probable than intelligent design. Darwins theory may not be perfect, but I think it has a pretty strong case. I just dont understand how there are people who can still defend views like the earth is only 4000 years old and thinking along those lines...

The earth is not only 4000 years old... It's more like millions..billions..

Now this is something a little controversial.

See this is how my opinion goes. We went through a certain level of evloution but we are not fully evolved. Science says that Apes are 2% diffierent from our genetic makeup which is true. They state that the chinpanze is not identical. Yet they are more human in apperance and intelligent wise. Now i wont get into the possiblity that the human race is not a branch of other races before us. Just consider how life works the universe is no exception. Just as the galaxy was created it states that it has happened before. Meaning that our predecesors must have left something behind. Just hear me out how do we cultivate a sophistic society by understanding a vast amount of the world. by making it up. Not so likely it seems that beings of superior intelligence must have gave us that. So we might have partially evolved but supported by something else with wisdom. I`m not sure but science is showing a sense of this.

Yeah because what have scientists ever done for society, right?

Q: If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys walking around HURRDURRDFRURR

A: Because that isn't the theory in the first place. The theory is that we share a COMMON ANCESTOR with apes. So let's say we have an ape like creature that existed a long ass time ago, it breaks off into, say, 3 different species. The species are sort of under-evolved Monkeys, Apes, and Neanderthals, these three went on to become todays monkeys, apes, and humans. Hope you get the idea, I'm not very good at explaining this stuff.

Yes thank you god its theorised. Y do you think fools look for BIG foot. Because hes one of the proclaimed links between human and ape.
actually the believed evolved is a little inaccurate from what you say. the prodominate ancestor branched from 3 correct but to were unable to survive certain standards. So one was left and in the final stages branched off in to 2 groups.

Hes right Basou since it shares opiniated intellect.

Forget the video I posted about Ken Miller rawrusuck, that vid is about debunking ID in the famous Dover trial in America, to get it out of the classroom because its not real science.

Climbing Mount Improbable by dawkins does a good explanation of evolution in laymans terms so try to check that out if you can.
