Go is a board game originating in China around 2500 B.C A game that was onced believed to be an ancient Chinese art that was needed for one to be truly sophisticated. The game however still exists today with many enthusiasts all over the world. Originally thought to be a game of the elderly, Go has become popular with people of all ages including teenagers and small children ever since the recent release of the manga/anime Hikaru no Go. The game has simple rules, however the game itself becomes complicated as you progress. Go is said to be good for the brain, emphasizing patience, mental endurance, strategy, and creativity. The game is a war and has been mentioned many times in history such as The Analect. The goal is to surround the most territory, with capturing enemy stones as an option. The game can be played anywhere, such as a local club, the internet, and computer programs.

My question now is to see how many of you play the game and where you play. Post anything you please that may be interesting: previous games, your experience, your opinion, etc. For those of you that don't play please do give it a try! To play Go, go to: http://www.gokgs.com/ Also join the group "Crunchyroll Go Club" for additional information and links!

Go is not a hard game! Even six year-olds can do it, so why not you? ^_____^

EXAMPLE

I've been playing Go since March 2007 on KGS. My experience is quite normal, though I've been improving rather quickly recently. Yes, like thousands of Go players, Hikaru no Go made me start the game. Go has proven to be quite the experience for me, changing my personality and social life, and I hope to teach many players and play many as well. One day I wish to become a Go professional, but nonetheless, I will continue to play Go forever! ^^

Wrong section. But I started playing Go ever since I was 5. My very traditional Chinese grandparents forced me to learn it, as well as Mahjong. It's fun in a way, but it's only fun when I win. Ha ha.
