Higurashi no contest. Elfen Lied had gore, and no real creepiness. Higurashi, well yeah it has crazy lolis.

i liked both of them really its just that elfen lied had more gore whilst Higurashi was more a Psychological thriller, but still there is gore!

you're making me want to watch hirugashi.
I mean there was lots of blood and gore in Elfen, but a lot of the scenes were expected to ahve gore because of the setting... story nice (except for ending), but gory places too predictable

The gore and blood of Elfen lied was all too commonplace. a person dies in a horrible way almost every episode. The death kinda gets boring. The GREAT romance element and beautiful artwork in Lied saves it though.

Then you have Higurashi. Higurashi works into your mind. The deaths in Higurashi are much more "OMG WTF?!?!?" the time space between the deaths allow for much more dark, physiological development. The comic relief in this show is LEGENDARY. Few can tie in Horror and Physiological with Humor. Higurashi does this BEYOND well.

So if you want GORE?!? -> Elfen Lied, a classic MUST watch

So if you want Suspense and meaningful deaths? -> Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, very addicting. a friend of mine started watching at episode 9 one day and stopped at Higu-Kai 13.

Elfen Lied's definitely more gory.

Haven't started Higurashi no Naku Koro ni yet, but I'm looking forward to that series.

Elfen Lied I finished 2-3 days ago and I loved the series. Especially all that gore and decapitation.

Nothing like watching an anime girl rip off people's limbs and head off in the morning!

I love them both. :B

Elfen Lied is gory and easy to understand and Higurashi is less gory and not as straightforward as Elfen Lied.

I pick Higurashi because of the story. And killer lolis. >:D

I like Higurashi because is more psychological which make it more creepy. Kinda got sick of gore because I have seen that many times in movies like Saw and in video games like God of War.

It depends though...
..I think Elfen Lied is scarier for younger audiences for obvious reasons..
and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Kai) is just pure paranoia.

i watched all of EL and i thought it was violent, but Higurashi actually made me jumpy. I think it is because EL is more like fighting and combat, where Higurashi is complete insanity and cruelty. That alway seems creepier to me....
That and the crazy laughing in Higurashi is quite unnerving.
