no, but usuallly manga artists are mostly asians (there r Korean manga artists as well ^^) sicne they're backgrounds r different from other cultures. they grew up reading manga and they have required art class to take since elemtary school. but I have a friend who is not asian, she has amazing manga arts xD so it really is practice, if u draw alot, then u will get really good :3

'manga' is a japanese term for comics/graphic novels
'mangaka' is the japanese term for author
so if you were to make your own... i don't think it would be considered as a manga or would u be called a mangaka.

Yes, I want to be a manga-ka too! but I'm not Japanese and I don't live in Japan . But, I do plan to go to Japan someday....
A lot of people say that the show Avatar: The Last Airbender is not an anime because it was made in the USA. but It's in the same style as animes are, so I think it is!
the world is SO unfair....

I'd think that anyone could be a manga-ka, race doesn't matter, as long as it's well drawn and has a good story people will read it.

I hope not. My friends and I are writing a manga. It's hard work, especially having to communicate overseas, but its fun. If you wanna, try it.

Everyone has their own talents and different drawing skills... Comics are like manga's... so of course non japanese people can make manga/comics.
Also, Stanley and Takei? Creator of spiderman and shaman king are working on a manga together called Ultimo.. American (i think) and japanese.

No. But it is a japanese term for comics. But more recently I believe it comes to mean a style more than anything else. So if you can do the style well, then sure you can. And going to Japan to become a manga-ka is like going to Hollywood if you want to become an actor/actress.
