I think the exact same thing would have happened, except Light would be chasing L. If this were the case I would probably be a L supporter, but because Light found the notebook I am a Kira supporter.

Glad to see another KIRA supporter. I mean, there's too god damn many L supporter!!

If L got it he would test it to see if it was real by using inmates that were on death row and have them both write each others names and conditions and if they die in that exact way then he would conclude that it was real or he would use it himself on inmates on death row but i highly doubt it

there's no question on how intelligent L was. if he'd use it, he would have done the same incredible things Light had done. and i dont mean the killings, i was referring to the things he did just so he could continue using the note. but im kinda seeing L in a good side so i dont think he would use it on killing, even those criminals.

L is very mysterious, all we know for sure is that he was extremely intelligent and a great detective.
I think he might have had too much of a sense of justice in him to do the same things Light did, I mean think of it this way. L is extremely intelligent and his identity is unknown. Don't you think if he was evil, he would have fulfilled those acts with other means, I mean he wouldn't really need the notebook. Just the notebook makes things allot simpler. But it all comes down to corruption. The same could be said about Light, he wasn't that way before the notebook. Absolute power corrupts absolutely

Hmmm... let me think of for a while...

Nah! L wouldn't use it the way Light did (based on their viewpoints in the story). He wouldn't have went against Light if L intends to eliminate all the criminals of the world. He should have gone 'Duh, kill them all as your ass wished..." while sipping his cup of chocolate. Going against Light means he thinks the other way. Justice is not killing, even for criminals.

And if L won't use the death note, Light would never be in the scene. Kinda boring though...

Well L would test it on an executed prisoner but he will probably not use it..But if it had that 13 day rule well he let an execute prison mate to write the name of another execute cell mate and wait for that 13 days rule apply. If it is true then he will throw it away. He will regret of using it or let someone to use it. Another thing about L is that despite the fact he is a genius he isn't willing to put himself on the front line because he is like a medical doctor. When you got war the soldier can go die because they can be replace but a medical doctor can't so he is valuable.

I think he would try it on a prison that was going to be exicuted that day. If it worked he would not use it again. He would probally burn it to pretect it from evil so it stopped killings! ^,^

I don't think L would have used the death note, since he also said in the series that any murder is a crime, er, something along those lines, and that kira isn't justice. plus, if L did use the death note, Light would have a slim chance with L anyway, since L can get away with almost anything since he is so smart xD

L could have won!!

L would not have used the Death Note, his morals are better than Light's. But, for the sake of being hypothetical, he would have been much smarter than Light, who left a freaking trail of breadcrumbs. Honestly, that guy is such a dumbass.
