i say JAPAN
call me coward and primitive but until now i won't dare watch THE RING
since then i stop watching horror films from Japan, grr i can't take it, it is so creepy it even follows me in my dream

their sound effects seems to be solid..

Japan and Thai have the scariest ones I've seen so far. Sorry to say that I've only watched a couple Korean films, and they confused me, both of them. I don't know if I just chose bad ones, or if the overuse (and I do mean OVERUSE) of nonsensical flashbacks is common in their films.
