My favorite anime ATM are:

Fushigi Yuugi ; nice character development, music was amazing, the story line = spectacular!!

Ayashi no Ceres ; (same as Fushigi Yuugi's reasons! The person who created the story/manga of Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres is the same person!(:)

Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden ; the storyline is great! Though there are many fillers.. But it's worth it in my opinion(: love all the morals each character had (except for the evil ones, but hey they do make an anime more addicting/fin to watch, no?(: )

I've watched and loved tons though, so I do have many faves, these are just to name a few :3

Kōkyōshihen Eureka SeveN

Has everything that makes a perfect series. Loaded with various references and extremely good use of foreshadowing ensures subsequent viewings always remain interesting and impactful. Was created by renown animation studio, BONES while retaining the company's trademark-high quality animation which surpassed previous anime before it. (like all the latest anime from BONES) An amazing soundtrack with music that can appeal to a wide array of audiences with different musical tastes. A unique and memorable cast is presented in Eureka Seven with an extremely heavy emphasis on character development.
Unlike many Shonen anime, Eureka Seven deviates making itself enjoyable for many different audiences. Here on Crunchyroll in fact, Eureka Seven is widely regarded as a gateway anime due to its large appeal to all manner of people whether they are veterans to anime or just taking an interest. It also is one of those rare anime which was an original concept instead of being based on another's work like the more widely popular anime out there. What truly sets the series apart from others has to be the level of care and development in the titular character and heroine, Eureka. A strong female is almost unheard of either in anime or manga without warping that character in some manner as to be psychotic or more masculine than feminine.

Eureka is an excellent character for her ability to remain a very strong female character without falling under one of your stereotypical classifications. Furthermore, the antagonist of the series, Dewey Novak is able to make his own strides to remain apart from any other villain. Dewey is both cold and cruel, but does not remain uncaring. His intellect and speaking skills are his greatest strengths permitting him to entice friend and foe. Although, these are his strengths he does not degrade into a simple manipulator nor is he an aggressor who seeks to dispose of his enemies himself.
Dewey is a very intriguing individual, but more than that is that his ultimate objective is achieved despite the protagonists best efforts. This adds a new a dimension in which the protagonists must face a situation well beyond normal hardships. To fully grasp the true meanings behind the series one must be made aware of both its endings, the official version and the never animated alternate ending, New Order.

Eureka Seven offers its own unique sense of humor and varying degrees of perspectives. One can sympathize with any character and yet still take a completely opposite stance. The series establishes some of its greatest feats by stepping into often controversial territory and adding in shades of gray for all characters, simply put abolishing all clear cut good and evil characters.
The characters are so realistic and go about their lives as normally as either your or I might. Facial expressions and body language are very much evident and done with great subtlety resulting in great affect. In the end you'll probably learn more from the characters body language than anything they might say or do. Attention to detail in the settings and the passion of the cast only serves to bind everything altogether and makes the world believable. There is ever the presence of mystery and uncertainty in Eureka Seven forcing the viewer to learn about the world, its characters, and the plot through the eyes of the main protagonists, Renton & Eureka.

The plot develops fairly slowly, however, it does so with regards to the world's politics. The plot develops quickly at the earliest reasonable pace within the confines of the world. Overall the series' primary focus is its characters and their relationships with each other that serves as the focal point of this anime. Everything is designed to work around this concept and does so to perfection. Characters come and go but always leave an impact whether they be extremely minor or otherwise regarded as of a lesser importance.
All reoccurring characters have a story to tell which will gradually be explored throughout the complete run of the program. Many life lessons can be learned from each episode while the characters themselves can shift emotions many times in the confines of the aforementioned episode. Lighting and shadowing is used to great affect adding well needed emphasis to demonstrate the seriousness, tone, and atmosphere of the scene.

Among the most powerful scenes are those devoid of any action whatsoever. The added emphasis of lighting and expertise with the laying of shadows exemplifies the characters' feelings. Eureka Seven despite being most memorable for its depressing atmosphere and scenes does contribute a fair amount of fast paced action sequences adding a new twist to one's view of mecha anime. These sequences are intense and thrilling without being prolonged and overbearing as typical Shonen is prone to. Despite the many strengths of the more hardy characters, they end up being those struck most profoundly by internal strife.
The physically more fragile characters make up for their shortcomings by their level of emotional and mental strengths. In truth, it is those who are strong of will that run the show contrary to appearances' sake. Eureka Seven successfully manages to mix a strong sense of normalcy with complacency while still making it endearing. Something that I doubt you'll find in any other anime out there. By adding the subtle and at other times brazen fictional elements, Eureka Seven retains that sense of awe and fantasy that makes it as enticing as the greatest works of fiction. This combination prevents alienation of viewers and causes one to connect with the characters to such a degree as to where you yourself may come to believe you are said character.

Such captivation to where you, at least for the time of your viewing, believe leading such a life is possible is an extraordinary feat. Each episode has its own tale while not in the least detracting from the overall plot, on the contrary it strengthens the plot as a whole. The familiarity you'll achieve with the characters is simply stunning with the only time you'll genuinely find it disappointing being when you reach that bittersweet ending and must accept that the series has come to a close.

Twilight of the dark Master, Elfen Lied, Appleseed film - Appleseed Ex Machina, Ghost in the shell - the original one, Neon Genesis Evangelion original TV series, Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. To name the few.

I haven't read manga.

Everyone has his/her own taste. As for me, I like story that has meat on it's bones, a little originality, a little creative, decently done, bitter sweet endings, downer endings and a few other things.

To pick one.
It would be Bleach , in highschool i stumbled across it on Adult swim Episode 1 after seeing a few episodes and thinking it was dumb but im the type , i need to see episode one to get into something..
So I watched it and 1 was good action , explained what happened, then once soul society came into play it grew on me and kept growing until im willing to throw all my money and work for that company to keep it going.
I know its "Canceled" for whatever reason for now even though it seemed to be watched alot , and knowing that the last episode he said bleach would be back 3-4 times is killing me to wait...

But it will never leave my Number 1 spot for having the best Fight scenes, Story line, Mysterys, and one of my first true anime's , The characters Would always grow on you and at the very end how the Soul Society Characters where older that gave me chills knowing that they actually show age, unlike alot of shows that people never age.
I cant wait for the return of Bleach!

I used to like Bleach, until after the Aizen arc. Now my two favorites are Naruto and Fairy Tail. By the way, lets motivate the Naruto developer to make a filler OVA for naruto where they go on vacation to the beach. xD

Like all anime, literally has an episode where they go to the spa or beach but naruto has none! /no perv here.

School Days because of the twists in relationships, and recently Mysterious Girlfriend X because of the complexity of lead female character Urabe.
