I admit to being rather picky sometimes when it comes to what animes I'll watch. But even though, I've still seen quite a lot in the few years I've gotten into Anime.

There are so many, and I pretty much like all the animes I've watched. Because if I don't get a good first impression, I don't watch it unless convinced otherwise.
And with that, there are so many selections to choose from it's very difficult to decide just what animes I liked the most enough to be considered a favorite in my book. But not in order, here are some ones that come to mind at this very moment that I really enjoyed:

Clannad(Actually, this is one of my ultimate favorite animes) - Now, Clannad has quite a few genres to it. Or rather, some are switched around or added. But this anime is considered a School Life type genre of Anime, as well as Romance, Drama, and some Fantasy/Supernatural.
The reason I like this anime, however, is because of it's amazing way to tap into even the most stoic of people's emotions visibly. There's so much sadness, so much love, so much friendship, even the occasional funny moments countered by the even more tense moments. It all blends like the perfect cup of tea, and you can't help but to get immersed in the show as if it's far more real than just fiction. I can't even begin to count how many times I smiled, cried, or even have the occasionally angry fit, while watching this incredible series. And I know many people who would say the same.
Sometimes the anime just flows, and the happiness contained within those small moments brings a grin to your face. But then there are other times where the hardships come, and really make you think about life.

In a way, I feel as if this Anime has changed me, and I think in a good way. But no matter how much I may try, I would probably never be able to fully nor accurately express just how I feel about this anime.
But either way, this is a number one suggestion to anyone, no matter what their tastes are. At least give it a try, I can almost guarantee you'll get into it.

Inuyasha - I've spoken to some people who have said this anime was not their cup of tea, or there was just something in it that bothered them. But alas, I cannot say the same.
Now this may just be my own, biased opinion since Inuyasha was the -very- first anime I was introduced to. I was much younger back then too, and being art as my passion even when I was just three, I even drew it! In fact, funny thing is that that was the first time I ever drew blood. My Mom didn't seem too happy with the blood and gore, but I was greatly influenced by the anime at the time. I wonder if my love of horror, gore and blood originated from that...

But anyways, though I may not have much to say about it, I really enjoy the anime. And hopefully one day, I'll get motivated enough to watch it from start to finish in order.

Mushi-Shi - I love the supernatural, mythical creatures and all. And this anime definitely appealed to me with those factors. It's a more recent, if not one of the most recent, animes I've watched. It was a strange, but yet satisfying series, and I couldn't get enough of it. I watched it in as little as a couple days, watching it within my every waking moment as I awaited in anticipation for what was to come next.
It was truly an intriguing experience, and something refreshingly different from the other animes I've ever watched.
Though all of the characters had a strange feel to them in a subtle yet obvious, and hard to pin point way, they all were very lovable and I enjoyed every second of every one's on-screen moments.

Overall, this was incredibly satisfying and refreshing, a new experience I loved very much. And I sometimes crave more, but I think the way it ended was a good way to end, as well as fine timing.

Toriko - It's been a long time since I've gotten into anime. I'm just not as into it as I used to be now, and I find it hard to motivate myself to even finish any of the series I watched a few months to a year ago or more. But recently - Just a few days ago actually - My brother has gotten me into an anime called Toriko. We're only on episode ten, but I think it just might already be a favorite. And if it isn't yet, I have no doubt in my mind it won't be.

-------------------------

Overall, there are many Anime series I'm fond of. But these are just the ones on the top of my head I remember most enjoying, so here you go.

Well from the recent ones Fate Zero is probably the best Anime I have seen in a long time. Fairly deep plot, good characters, not too slow or too fast, excellent action scenes and satisfying ending. Also love the monogatari series, can't really tell why but maybe it's the characters or the somewhat special humor or fairly deep and artistic visuals.

From the older ones I could pick few like Serial Experiments Lain which is an oddball as when I first watched the first episode I almost fell a sleep and didn't really bother with the others. Few years later I felt like trying again and watched the whole series in two sittings. I have weak spot for mystery as well so series such as Mushishi and xxxHolic easily belong to my faivorites as well.

GINTAMA!!!
I think it is the best because it is totally like AMERICA's version of Family guy!
also it is the perfect mix of action and comedy and from gintama you can learn so much about Japanese culture it is crazy!
Reccomend watching this show if you like comedy!

I've got a lot of favourites. My all time favourite I put above everything else would be The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya with the K-On Movie not too far behind.

The Haruhi Movie did something completely new that turned the series on its head. It developed it's characters beyond clichés, it added an amazing plot to a series which didn't have one, Crispin Freeman's narration was great, the soundtrack was great and the animation was flawless.

The K-On Movie was everything a Slice of Life should be. Not much else to it. It was cute, funny, relaxing, emotional and very easy on both the eyes and ears.

But if I were to just say shows, it would be Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I cannot name a single flaw in this show. The pacing is perfect, the characters are magnificent and well developed, the soundtrack enhanced every scene, the animation was great, the voice acting in both dubs is great. I could go on for ages about why I like the show but I'm already rambling as it is.

Other than that, there's Cowboy Bebop, FMA, 'Monogatari series, Beck, Hanasaku Iroha, Strike Witches, Clannad, Welcome to the NHK, Toradora, Hyouka, Code Geass, Hidamari Sketch and a lot more

Adding to this, I just finished Fate/Zero and I absolutely loved it. Easily edging out Nisemonogatari as my favourite anime of 2012. Not to say I didn't love that. It's just that Fate/Zero was that good. It's not quite as good as Madoka, but it still proves without a doubt that Gen Urobuchi is far from a one hit wonder. While I'm less enthused about having playing the VN to find out how it all ends, I can't wait to see the English dub.
