Elfen Lied. It's a very serious anime that uses violence as a tool instead of a means for entertainment. It's not your "slasher" anime like the blood series which uses violence and extreme amounts of blood, what I call Tarantinoized, just because it can with no real purpose. Elfen Lied also does a great job portraying the affects that bullying can have on people and that it can drive people whom may not have a propensity towards violence to commit terrible crimes. This anime also shows how hate and prejudice can have the same affect on people.

I love this show because it's not afraid to go to that extreme, to use that gut wrenching violence and drama to attack faults in society that most people want to forget. It slaps the results of bullying, hate, ignorance and fear right into the viewers face to the point that you'll never forget what you just watched. It's an anime that achieves it's goal by making an enjoyable show and getting it's very serious subject matter across to people without being preachy.

This is going to be a somewhat long list but here we go:

Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, Cardcaptor Sakura, Urusei Yatsura, Galaxy Express 999, Gintama, Mobile Suit Gundam, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell II Innocence, Ghost in the Shell S.A.C., Tonari no Totoro, Pokemon: Indigo League,Pokemon: The First Movie, House of Five Leaves, Death Note, Spirited Away, Sazae-san, Rozen Maiden, Toradora, Jigoku Shoujo.

I really liked the Attack on Titan anime but then I started to read the manga. Now it feels like they cover so little in the episodes XD.

I really like xxxHOLiC but I haven't read the manga in a long time and never got around to the anime.

My reason for liking many of these anime is mainly due to nostalgia. *COUGH POKEMON COUGH*

But I do genuinely love every single anime on this list.

If only I could find the original Japanese for Pokemon: Indigo League...

I truly believe that One Piece is the best anime to date and i think that Japan's Yearly Manga Rankings for Fiscal 2012 by series truly reflect the difference in quality. One Piece ranking in No. 1 With 23,464,866, which is almost 3x the sales of the next competitor Kuroko no Basket and Naruto which scored 3rd at 6,495,240 sales.

There are various aspects as to why I believe One Piece to be the best. First is the world that One Piece takes place in. If anything, One Piece has the most creative creative places to have adventures that I have ever seen. I am always surprised at the imagination of the author to come up with new locations and islands to have adventures. It's as if his imagination has no bounds.

Now when I speak of the world of One Piece as being the best, i don't mean just the locations, but also how the world works and fits together with the story that takes place. One Piece follows the adventures of Luffy, however the world is much bigger than Luffy and his little adventure, and it is amazing that from even very early chapters, if you are paying attention, there are hints as to what is going on in the world around him. Things that you won't fully understand until much later in the series. The reality of the rest of the world outside Luffy's adventure is one of the reasons why One Piece has a much deeper story than it appears to at first. There is always something going on in the world around Luffy, and how the world reacts to Luffy's adventure in a "realistic" sense is awesome.

The characters in One Piece are also some of the best i have ever come across. Everyone is different. Even the very minor characters and super side characters all have their own quirks and are unique in some way, and everyone you meet is important, and everyone that is spoken about, even in passing is important even if you don't come to realize it till 300 episodes later :P. Every main character has a back story that truly matters in the grand scheme of things, and has impacted each character's worldview in a tremendous way. With a diverse cast of characters who all have their own priorities and own goals and visions and ideas and beliefs, I believe that the author does an amazing job at scripting every dialogue, making sure that each character speaks in "character". Also the humor in One Piece is very character oriented humor. Many inside jokes and jokes about the characteristics of the other characters.

These are the top two reasons I choose to talk about when I tell someone why I enjoy One Piece so much. Obviously there are other good qualities such as epic battles. But you can easily find other manga that also has great battles as well. But it is rare to come across such a well scripted manga and anime which has the whole world in view as the author writes about the adventures of one boy who just wants to become the Pirate King.

The only thing about One Piece is that it does take a while. It doesn't start off the fastest and there is a certain time commitment involved before you will see what i'm talking about. But I promise you that it is worth it. Think of it like having dinner. If you want really good food, you go to a nice restaurant, it might have a 1 hour wait, and the food wont come out all at once, you will have the appetizers first before the main course and dessert, but it will be worth it in the end. If you want something cheap and fast, hit up McD, or Taco Bell. Nothing wrong with that, but you get what you pay for. If you want something that has quality and deepness, watch One Piece but it will take a while. If you want a fast fix, watch something else, like I would recommend Naruto, Bleach, or if u want some drama Angel Beats and Kokoro Connect

Hope you find this helpful :D, I have convinced many people to give One Piece a shot and they just blew through 300 episodes when their first reason for not watching was "it's so long, i cant watch that many!!"

Difficult. Deadman Wonderland, perhaps. Bleach, before it started repeating itself. Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei - but come the second series it just became a bit too odd for me. Oreimo, but it may very well be a passing addiction.

Oh, and I have to mention Digimon, of course. For a kid's anime with an annoying amount of stock footage, it's surprisingly emotionally engaging and infinitely cool. That goes for series 1 and 3 most of all. Didn't really dig the 'fusion' digivolutions in the second series, or the second series in general.

As much as I like One Piece (my favourite out of the big 3), I can't come to accept it as my favourite. Steins;Gate beats One Piece for me, and it will beat every other anime in the next coming years. Yes it even beats Attack On Titan in my book. The one thing I like about One Piece that it keeps going back to the good old One Piece days (eg; the sea cow, baboon, the Mr Numbers from Impel Down) etc, I guess some characters just don't die off after their arc has ended, they merely comeback as part of the whole plot of the series. I have a feeling Enel will make an appearance one day.

Sword Art Online is my favorite anime as of now. The concept is really cool and it was executed very well. I just like the whole idea and setting. The action and story is also very good. I have seen lots of other very good anime but this one just appeals to me a little more. I haven't found confirmation of a second season though I have found lots of people and producers saying fairly confidently that there will be a 2nd season. If anyone has any confirmation please let me know?!?!?!?!?!

If you think the anime is good, you really should check out the light novels. Not only are they infinitely better, but it fills in all the gaping holes the anime had and will help make more sense with extra context. Also, they BETTER animate GGO... Because holy crap... that was some amazing stuff in the novels. XD

Anyway, here are my Top 10 Anime I guess. There are many reasons for me to put them where they are, maybe I will go into them later.

1. Code Geass
2. Baccano!
3. Fate/Zero
4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
5. Cowboy Bebop
6. Rurouni Kenshin (Only really the Kyoto Arc)
7. FLCL
8. One Piece
9. Psycho-Pass
10. Toradora!
