your right but i will draw an example of what you said to running. lets say that a short anime series (movie) , it doesnt even really matter which one, runs for 13 episodes like hellsing and a long series runs for say 100 episodes. Now lets equate this to running 13 episodes will equal a hundred meter dash and the 100 episodes will equal a 5 kilometer run. To run 100 meters as fast as you can takes less skill than to run 5 kilometers. A real life scenario I have 2 friends ryan and john ( true story) we all used to play soccer togeather and we go to the same school. they are in track now and i play golf, If john and ryan race john will always beet ryan for the first 1/2 a mile if that but beyond that its ryans race.
what im trying to say is have the writer of inuyasha and hellsing create 2 new series each 1 being 13 episodes long the other 100. While hellsing's writer may make a better 13 episode series he may not have at all what it takes to make it past 50 episodes. while it may be the quality of the writer that makes a better anime (which i wholly agree) its also not fair to say that the lenght of a series may take a good writer and make him seem mediocre, but a writer that needs time to tell his stories may appear just the opposite. (maybe the writer of dragonballZ was better at writing shorter anime series).

lemme sum all that up. sometimes we come across bad animes b/c writers havnt necessarily found there niche. (niche= roll in a ceratian specified noun)

I just started watching naruto and its brilliant but i have seen all fullmetal alchemist and thats amazing also beet the vandel buster is pretty good

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya really kicks ass. I like the style of humour, and the sarcastic narration.

Mushishi, the style and feel of the story telling makes it hard to watch all at once, its not bad, but mellow, and kind of soothing, which I like, you get to savor it.

and its no problem, i love to argue as well. but something you forget is most animes that ARE only 13 episodes are from a continuing story. berserk (i think they got that to 26 and stopped), hellsing, kenshin for a long time was only the 4 ovas, but the anime, after shishioh, just decided to make some crap up.

so a lot of these shorter animes, or ones that start out short, are actually much longer. take bastard, as a perfect example. we have the first arc, 6 episodes, but its actually something like 16 mangas, i believe, which would be an easy 26 episodes if they wished.

Ouran High School Host Club is really good. Lately, there have been no animes that keep me interested like Host Club.
