no offense but....if love is blind, why is kinky lingerie so popular?

how to spread ones cultural values to other people through cartoons. ingenious!!!

This comment made me smile. There are a number of things that are generally lost on westerners though. In some instances the things lost are a good thing. (Such as racism towards various non Japanese groups in Asia.) While at other times there are things that could be useful. (such as the value of etiquette, or the historical context of some animes.)

American cartoons spread cultural values as well. How many cartoons have come out that promote democracy, deny the existence of a class system in modern civilization, or that promote individual freedom over the needs of the group? Watching British programs is a good way to compare cultures. What do they shy away from? What do they show that we would shy away from?

Things you have learned from Anime!

@topic: There are lots... I learned that Ninjas wear bright colored clothes!

This brings me to what I actually learned from anime. It isn't just us Americans who can put out something that demonstrates a complete lack of an understanding of one's own history and culture. Braveheart took the bridge out of the Battle of Stirling Bridge, and made the whole conflict about freedom. Compared to this blowing a tree up with a .38 or blocking a bullet with a high carbon sword is understandable.

yeah it did.. i learned a lot of things, among them is.. time is gold, invest your time on animes worth watching... not on those crappy ones that consumes a lot of time, but actually little entertainment value in the end --> a lesson applicable in real life

I would think anime teaches you about love for the most part since it just can't go on without someone crushing on someone
