The word "nega." Tell me what you think that means.

I'm sorry if I don't like the word because it sounds like "nigga" which derives from the word "nigger" which is what African-Americans like me were called before they were whipped and slapped.

ohohoho i thought so u would think that,,, i forgot the word TIVE to make the word NEGATIVE sigh...

Oh of course you did. Right. Yeah.

Bring that to someone who actually accepts ur BS. Hon, unfortunately I've had the discomfort of dealing with chicks worse than you, and you'd think that at 20 you'd be out of the phase, but I guess girls like you always stay brats. Beauty's only skin deep, babe.

Anyway, I'm outta here. I seen enough of girls like you to last a life time, and I don't come here to deal with wannabe-cute liars such as yourself. I come here to debate with actually smart people.

Goodbye.

Sounds like your brother has a very narrow range of view when it comes to anime. Let me guess, he's obssesd with Bleach and Naruto.

He hates them both.

He also hates Inuyasha, of which he actually has seen a few episodes. Not that I object to that, since I'm no fan of Inuyasha either. He still badgers me for having once watched it though. I was just trying to see what it was like at the time.

Golgo 13
The Animatrix
Trigun
Death Note
The Big O
Yu Yu Hakusho

Well, first of all, I refuse to tell someone they can't like what they like, but I am somewhat surprised by the LAST one in this list. The rest mostly struck me on a quick read as being from about the same time period and all with similar styles/feels to them. Put simply, they're all basically "cult films" which are considered "must-watches".

I'm surprised that he liked Sherlock Hound as well. I'll have to ask him about that sometime.

Here is a list of some anime he has condemned (again, without having watched):

Princess Mononoke (he called this film "kiddy crap")
Bleach
City Hunter
Dirty Pair
Galaxy Express 999
Urusei Yatsura (this one he has bitched at me mercilessly over for the past few months)

If an anime has even one scene involving perverts looking up women's skirts (such as in GTO and City Hunter), he immediately condemns it as "pervert crap."

Well, condemning it without watching it DOES lead me to wonder (esp. given his choice of favorites) whether he's just following a certain "group thought". I would love to know his rationale for Metropolis or Hellsing. The rest all strike me as "taste" type animes (many of them are fairly ecchi, and not really similar to what he's mentioned as liking) but Hellsing is basically a descendant of Vampire Hunter D and Metropolis is one of the classics of anime.

He hates Metropolis because it was made by Osamu Tezuka, who as we all know made Astro Boy. My bro's reasoning is that anything made by Osamu Tezuka must be bad because the original 1960's Astro Boy anime series had extremely cheap animation. He also said Metropolis was a cheap attempt at an artsy film.

He hates Hellsing because he thought the villains were extremely cheesy and because he thought Alucard "laughed at nothing too much." Another reason is because he thought it was too similar to Vampire Hunter D.

Hmmm I agree, watching anime isn't some kind of special ability, it's just watching what you like, it's like reading the type of book you like...Or watching the type of movies you like...as for your brother it's true he's just trying to force his ideas unto you.
I suppose it is a little frustrating having him badgering you most of the time, maybe you should just try to ignore him when he's preaching, and don't bother trying to force your arguments to him bcoz once he's got his own ideas he doesn't seem to want to accept others perspectives.
Hahaha if you're that evil you should find something of his interests and try telling him how loser he is I play the piano and my little sister plays the guitar and she's always saying how cool she is with the guitar and tries to show off how better she is compared to a piano...But just to be evil I told her at least I wont have 'hard men' fingers..I find it most who plays the guitar happens to have callous fingers bcoz the fingers are constantly rubbing harshly on the wires. Well anywayz that shut her up though she still gives me attitude but it's ok at least she now knows she'll have unwomanly fingers

He tolerates Ghost in the Shell and Fist of the North Star, but he doesn't care too much for them. He thought the Tachikomas completely ruined SAC. He said the GitS movie was a "nowhere film." He says Hayao Miyazaki is overrated, and the only Miyazaki film he actually likes is The Castle of Cagliostro.

Here is a list of some anime he has condemned (again, without having watched):

Great Teacher Onizuka
Berserk
Hellsing
Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
Paprika
Millennium Actress

If an anime has even one scene involving perverts looking up women's skirts (such as in GTO and City Hunter), he immediately condemns it as "pervert crap."

Even though I like all the anime he approves of, he accuses me of being a "fag" and of having "terrible taste in anime" because in addition to the ones he approves of, I watch a lot of "crap."

He also came to the conlusion that I'm trying to "become Japanese" simply because I watch certain anime in Japanese.

So I guess the real question is... does anyone here know someone like this? How do I deal with someone like this? I really need to know because everytime I try to watch something on crunchyroll, my brother constantly shouts "THAT'S CRAP! THAT'S GARBAGE!", and it's starting to make me physically and mentally ill.

then...could you tell him this?

then why don't we try criticizing your interests? doesn't that irritate you? even if you are his older brother, you can't simply say those kinds of things.

you don't have the right to say that anime is nonsense. no one can demand other people what they should like. we're not them. and they are not us. it's not right at all.

why not at least understand his situation? if someone would say that to me, i would feel insulted. pls. read this. hope it would help...even a little.
