Hm. I think the reason for starting this topic isn't just to "diss" Bleach. It was probably by someone who genuinely like(d) Bleach and had wanted to see it exercise its max potential. And I'm sure for those who responded in favor of this topic had some of these same thoughts as well.

For me, anime is always less amusing than manga. Therefore, Bleach anime does not suck for its fillers or fake arcs; animes generally are sucky for their fillers.

However, I've been following Bleach manga for a long time now. And I must say, I was thoroughly anticipating the excitement that Hueco Mundo would bring as the manga plot unraveled itself.

But it has disappointed me. Ever since they arrived in Hueco Mundo, it's been nothing but a bunch of boring fights chapter after chapter. Back and forth, back and forth, the shinigami and the esapadas showed each other up one time after another. It gets pretty damned bland when at the end of every 19-20 page chapter, you'd think someone has died from a fatal blow, when instead on the following chapter he stands up after taking his 20th life-threatening blow, smirks, and says he's got more in him.

Furthermore, it always amazes me that even though Ichigo has gained so much power in such a short time, he is still so useless in front of the Espadas. He's getting his ass kicked pretty damned badly; how will he ever stop Aizen himself? Isn't the whole point (of ichigo getting stronger) to bring him into the spotlight as the lone hero in the manga? Ichigo wouldn't be fit as a hero if he didn't occasionally beat up somebody relatively easily, because a hero needs to display his power. Instead, he's getting his ass kicked in every fight in hueco mundo and everybody's coming to give him a helping hand. I like the idea of a showdown between the arrancars and soul society; it moves the plot along. Except, time is running out and if Ichigo isn't strong enough now, he'll never become strong enough (unless he learns Goku's Spirit Bomb).

About the plot -- I suppose the eventual conclusion of the story is to have stopped Aizen and put him in justice. For the last 10 chapters of manga, they managed to backtrack, to develop the story behind the Vizards and Urahara, and how they relate to Aizen's plot. However, there are still about 98 chapters to go before we get back to chapter 1, where it all started (since it's at chapter -98 or somethin right now). I doubt this will ever lead to a satisfying conclusion (when we go back to real time), because it probably won't explain what happens to Espadas when they die at the hands of a shinigami. Let me explain what I mean by that.

Shinigamis purify the hollows so that they become souls in soul society. Espadas are highly intelligent, vastly powerful hollows. Therefore, if they die at the hands of Shinigamis, they will end up as regular souls in Soul Society, maintaining the balance of living and dead souls. That's the whole mentality behind the dying-out of Quincys, right? because they simply exterminate hollows rather than send them to soul society.

In that case, what's the whole deal with espadas? Shinigamis couldn't really have killed them, or else the balance would be disrupted. so the dead ones are actually on the road to soul society? or what?
And what about Aizen and his traiter crew? They have not revealed whether or not they are merely shinigami or vizards. There is no possibility that they are espadas, obviously. When they die, then, they just die? doesn't that upset the balance as well?

And that leads to the whole concept of Bleach. the idea of souls, shinigamis, hollows, it's pretty good after all. and as long as you treat it as fiction, there isn't too much to worry about, like how everything is coincidentally linked and contained within a little rural town in japan. i don't question the logic of those things.

however, within the story itself are the characters. if the characters don't make sense enough, then the story can not continue. the whole soul thing is just weird to begin with, because if you'll notice, they added the fact that dead souls can live in the living world with synthetic bodies. that blurs the distinction between life and death. to add fuel to flame, they threw in a little bit of extra -- ichigo's dad used to be a shinigami.

did that make him the same as ichigo, where his living soul was forcibly extracted, and which was strong enough to be a shinigami? or was he dead first, captained in soul society, then returned to the living world in a synthetic body and then reproduced with a living human?

These are just a lot of thoughts that run through my mind when I continue to keep up with Bleach. The "suckiness" factor of a manga all depends on whether they carry out the plot well enough most of the time. and so far, Bleach has been going downhill. I would really like to see it all unravel and explained by the end of the backtracked 99 chapters, as well as throughout the continuation from chapter 315 on. And that's why, even though it sucks at this point, i continue to believe that Bleach will get better, and continue follow updates on its chapters..

Animes have their strong points. Animes also have their weak points. Why can't both be respected?

As long as the producers of Bleach (and any other anime) know that their series is going to sell, they don't care if it has a "crappy" storyline. If it's successful, it's successful, and nothing else. If they wish to continue a successful series, then so shall it be.

If people enjoy the series, then saying that the storyline "sucks" doesn't matter. It could be the crappiest storyline ever created but there could still be fans. Everything in this world has to be liked by somebody. "One man's meat is another's poison..." Is it not?

A series won't be a good series if the main character doesn't have a weakness. Right now, Ichigo is striving to become stronger to eliminate that weakness. Doesn't everyone know that a story has to have a problem and a solution?

But there must be some reason I've stuck with this anime ever since the beginning, even though it may be repetitive and "crappy."

If Bleach was bad, there wouldn't be so many fans. Each anime has their own good points. I actually love all the different Bleach characters, they did a good job with them, the only way it's ever annoying is with the fillers and stuff. Season 3 had a really good start though and they are releasing the Diamond Dust Rebellion soon. I kind of disagree with the Bount season and cutting off season 3 before anyone found out anything but I guess there's a pretty good reason for that. They really just need to release chunks at a time of season 3... Bleach is going to pick up after the whole arrancar fighting mess is sorted out and after the snobby princess leaves.

I like Bleach, the only thing that sucks are the fillers.

It would have been better for them to simply take a break once in a while between seasons and stick with the manga story arcs instead of giving us poor quality fillers.

I hope they get back to the manga arc soon.
