I think it's a little overrated. I like the anime, but I'm not in love with it. I personally think that the only reason it's popular is because of all the eye candy. Girls are obsessed with how hot *cringe* a character is rather than the quality of the anime story. When it comes down to it, the story isn't really that original... Vampires lost it's originality a long time ago. For example Blood+ is real original, it's got the whole blood suckers thing, but they are not exactly Vampires. Hellsing was original because it was a mirror of the infamous Dracula with Nosferatu, only in a more original and appealing context.

Vampire Knight is mostly an anime pointed towards fangirls. I like it because there is some form of originality in this, and I'm an all time Vampire girl, so it sort of appeals to my taste.

In the end, Vampire Knight is slightly overrated, but it's still pretty good... just not as good as people make it seem.

Please don't mention twilight... for the sake of all our sanity's cant there be any VK forum without the mention of that Pathetic movie/book

Well I agree with you that the reason VK is this popular is because it caters to the young female fans who loves to read romantic vampire stories. For me I think its a little over rated because romantic vampire stories are some of the age old young female fantasies that is why this stories are very popular. just an example I mean come on who can resist the charm of Lestat in Interview with the vampire? why is Twilight so IN this days? It's the fantasy of having a vampire drinking your blood which is common(fantasies is never bad as long as its in moderation ).
But as far as I can see VK is one of the best stories I've read so far not only because of the interesting characters but also how the story twist and interconnects each characters. A story wherein they will lead you to continue guessing rather than knowing what will happen next is a best story for me, I guess that is why VK is so popular.

I have a dirty little secret... after reading about Lestat and seeing his in the movie... I fell in love with the character...w ell I fell in love with Stuart Townsend :P

Yeah, I get what you mean with the whole story twists, that's why I stick around. Seriously though if it turned out to be another twilight, I might have to make a new avatar replacing Robert Pattinson with Zero... or Kaname... or both!

*HUGS AVATAR*

OMG Stuart Townsend sure made my blood boil in Queen of the Damned!!! Actually Twilight is too predictable already

Yes, but I found VK predictable too. Knew Yuuki was special, probably a Vampire. Knew Kaname had a huge scheme with Zero in it, knew that Cross was somehow special in some way... new that the councils had a huge conspiracy set up >_<

HEHE, or maybe I just think to much on my free time

HEHE its normal to think to much on your free time It means you have alot of stuck up information on you mind
But did you predicted that kaname and yuuki's parents were siblings? Totally freaked me out the first time when I read it... I almost came to the point of discontinuing to read the story since the idea can't sink on my mind but then I realized "O what the heck... I already started this"

nope, but after figuring it out I didn't care, I believe they call it Pansexuality, not caring about a persons gender, race, family or whatever, its normal, I've got a Pansexual friend, and he doesn't even care if the person was a He/She, still love him to death though ^_^

Because of the good story but I also think that it is heavily due to the hot guys in the series.

ANIMATION/MANGA: THE WAY IT INTRODUCED THIS ANIME, SOOO MAKE PEOPLE EAGER FOR MORE.

THE STORYLINE AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SO 'STRONG AND CONFIDENCE' TYPE.
