depends on the software, but i dunno. Adobe Imageready CS2 resizes it and doesn't make the animation seem too bad.

I use
Virtual Dub- to obtain the images from a video
and
Imageready- to make it into an animation.

like the one i have now

I hate using image sequences. It comes out much better if you import a vid clip directly into Imagready. Well, If anyone wants a tutorial on how to do this, let me know and I'll make another write-up.

I seem to be good at that

yeah, please do, I have imageready

i'd like to know too please...because using image sequences is annoying....
and for some reason, most of the avatars i upload either freeze, or don't show the whole animation...does anyone know the reason?

Okay you need to convert your video file into an MPEG. There are TONS of way to do this but I use a program called EO Video.

If you convert it right you should be able to open it in Imageready. From there, treat it like any other GIF. If you need more detailed info, let me know.

I use this too for my avatar。Usually make my own, but when i dont have time, i sometimes ask my friend to make one for me since he is overall better at usuall adobe imageready and photoshop compared to me.

HI. I'm learning Gimp and have made a couple gif images...(See shitty avatar). Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of the static/ get higher quality for and keep around a 2mb size? right now I'm extracting a sequence from an avi, then selecting Video-Frames to Image, Scaling Image to about 200x150, using Animation_optimize( for gif.), then Mode_Index (default color selection); then saving as a gif. sometimes I get one without snow and sometimes it looks like shit. If anyone can give me help or direct to a good tutorial (I havent' found one yet) then I would appreciate it.

Also if anyone knows the Gimp function that lets you edit together different video sequences (skipping over scenes) that would be cool too.
