judging from what we see in the opening theme, it seems like Sara will be the most likely person to be together with the male protagnist of the story.

I wouldn't call Crystal Blaze/Glass Maiden a romance, I'd say it's more like film noir which is known for love stories that you know can't have a happiy ending. On the other hand every adult character in the show has a love interest, even the ones you'd least expect.
Shuu's a womanizer but he cares enough about the women he's been with that if something happens to one of them someone's going to pay.
