i pick eskrima/kali, its complete, from impact weapons (sticks) to bladed (machetes and knives) and even to unarmed and grappling, i mean its complete. its practical, good at extreme close range. agile and fast and etc. i too practiced karate, but i prefer to like eskrima more. and eskrima if you guys are thinking as eskrima solely as a stick martial art, then i'll say you're wrong. no offense but, eskrima may be simple, but it is one of the deadliest and martial arts in the world today.

if the ancient form of eskrima/kali is still present nowadays, which includes using of the double handed long swords (called kampilan) i think i would say that the art is better than kendo. but eskrima is all about practicality, which means there would be a lot of room for improvisations.

I don't have any martial-art discipline. Street Fighting, in short.

That's pretty cool, so no restrictions then. I hate how fighting styles have set formulas and the experts usually don't try to integrate techniques from different styles to help make the style more versatile because they believe that would delude their art.

martial arts can be used for multiple purposes...when used as a fighting stlye, its best not to have any restrictions at all...so learn multiple stlyes...Jeet Kune Do is a stlye that has no retrictions...its also a theory that uses the "no restrictions rule".And just because experts dont integrate techniques and use formulas, doesnt mean u have to in a real fight...i dont use restrictions in my street fights...and i learn some of the most restrictive arts u can learn...be like water....peace over war
