My first anime convention was last year (2009). I went to Sac Anime Summer. I was also 19~
Yes, I'm a late bloomer to cons and cosplay.
It's a fairly small convention but I really like it. ^^

sadly i only got to go for the friday (which totally sucks)

My first convention was SMASH!con 2008 in Sydney, Australia.
It was the second year they'd ever held it so it was a really small convention of about 300 people but I've been going to it for the last 3 years and now its attendance is in the 5000's. : D
I was 15.
Next year I'll be attending 2 other conventions for the first time, they're WAY bigger so I'm nervous. ^_^''

Big Apple Anime Fest during October 26–28, 2001. I was forty and this was during my 3rd anime period, late1990s-current. There had been no, strictly speaking, Anime Cons in NYC prior to BAAF at a time when I was into anime. My 1st anime period was the 1960s, followed by the mid 1970- early 1980s.
I went the three years it ran, and have gone to all of the New York Anime Festival since they started.

17, there aren't many convention over here, just 4 or so and I never had any friend interested in Anime until a year ago or so.
