ADV only owns the licence to the anime for the UK, Canada and United States, so they can only stream the show to those particular countries because they don't own the license to broadcast outside of those regions. It's not an only-anime thing either, if you check the back of most DVDs or the copyright information on them you'll see a similar message such as "only for sale in ___" where ___ is the country. To show the anime outside of those regions would mean that ADV were breaking licensing law. It's not because they think the anime wouldn't be accepted out of those regions, it's a matter of law. |

The sad part is that ADV's goods are also marketed in Australia, which is wholly ignored in this affair : ( For CR to air welcome to the NHK in other countries like China, HK, Taiwan, or Malaysia, they need to obtain the perms from the licensors there to air the show there. Either that, or they need root access from Gonzo itself. Well, they probably got the permissions from Gonzo already on this, and needed to negotiate with ADV with letting them put it up. |
