Now, I as perfectly content as I am with my wii, I was thinking now I should buy a 2nd console. I was thinking the PS3 because I am not really much of a fan of FPS, and the 360 has plenty of those. The only thing is is that its just so god damn expensive for me, and the game prices have been raised from the 50 bucks too (though so has 360 so I am fucked on that department either way).

What are some pros and cons of both systems?

well I'm getting a 360 soon so I can complete my system trio(own a wii and PS3)

It really depends on what game you like....if you're an RPG fan then the PS3 because they're some hot titles come out 4 the PS3 like SO4, FFXIII and FFXIII versus, Suikoden VI, .Hack//(only rumors at the moment)

PS3 is good...it's just that its games take up so much memory..specailly games like DMC4,Heavenly Sword, Oblivion, GTA4..they take up gigs of space..and that might be a problem in the future

I haven't really been paying attention to the 360 though...only getting it because Tales of Vesparia is only coming out for the 360(they really need to stop forcing RPG's on the 360)
the 360 is more FPS...and though I like some shooting games...I get bored easily from them

and the 360 has gotten complaints of it not reading discs(like GTA4) and it can over heat quickly(but new ones last longer)..atleast when the PS3 is about to overheat it will either flash or turn itself off if it's very serious(well...mine does that..bought a cooler though)

my decision would be a PS3..though it might be a little pricy..you will thank yourself in the future(if you're an RPG guy)...and if you don't like FPS...then's what's the point of getting a 360(no offense to you 360 fans out there)

but the wii's fine!! can't wait for Tales of Symphonia 2!!!

You know what, go with the 360. PS3 is still expensive and so are its games. Besides, they haven't release many games for PS3 yet. I recommend you the Xbox 360. It's way better. I mean...hey, you got more choices of games and accessories for a cheaper price

Also, this "Which is better? 360, Wii, or PS3?" thread would be very useful for you, in my opinion.

Already stated this is not VS thread, and its not about wii. Its a simple recommendation thread, in that sense its not a copy. Sorry.

Here's a brief comparison of the PS3 vs. the Xbox 360:
(PS3 advantages are marked with a +, and disadvantages are marked with a -)
+ Better value for what you get
+ Motion sensitive controls
+ No regional lockout (except for PS1/PS2 games)
+ Blu-ray support (for movies and games)
+ Online gaming is free
+ Standard memory card support (on most models)
+ No need to download "profiles" for backward compatibility
+ Official Linux support
+ Wireless controllers have built-in rechargeable batteries
+ Supports more than just streaming media
- More expensive up front than the cheapest X360 model
- The PS3 completely lacks anything like the X360's "Achievements" system
- Some X360 games are not available in PS3 versions
- Unlike the X360, the PS3 does not support upscan-converting 720p to 1080i
- The PS3 does not support the rival HD-DVD disc format (which no longer
matters much now that HD-DVD has been discontinued)

i got this from gamefaqs, hope it helps a little, but i think it really depends on what you want to play, cause on both consoles there are some amazing exclusives which makes me which i had a 360 like gears of war series, halo serires, ninja gaiden, tales of vesperia, dead or alive series, and they are starting to get a lot of pretty good rpgs like lost odyessy, eternal sonata and a lot of decent stuff.
but ps3 also has some pretty amazing games, but they kinda come out more slowly or they are kinda underrated and you just dont hear about them that much. some good games we got so far would be: ratchet and clank, ninja gaiden sigma, resistance, heavenly sword, metal gear 4 and online, grand turismo 5, NBA games, folklore (is ok), and uncharted drake's fortune are some pretty good exclusives that i can think of so far.

What kind of games do you like? RPG's, First Person shooters, etc.?

Also, don't listen to people who say PS3 costs more. It's a 50 buck difference, and you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold, 50 bucks yearly to do online multplayer while Playstation 3's online multiplayer is free. Games for both systems also cost 60 bucks for both.

Playstation 3

Pros:
It has very reliable hardware. (The chances of your PS3 breaking is 2-3%, same as the Wii)

Playstation 3 will always have more variety of games because 90% of RPG's go to a Japanese console, so PS3 obviously. (Only exception to the rule is Wii)

If you like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, White Knight Chronicles, Disgaea 3, etc., get PS3.

Free online gameplaying.

The PS3 is a Blu-Ray Player (it's going to be the successor to DVD because Blu-Ray's are HD), internet browser, if you have a PSP you can remote play, etc.

Cons:
Price. (Though the price of PS3 and 360 are roughly the same hardware and game wise)

Slow start, but all the good games haven't come out yet, so yeah.

Xbox 360

Pros:
If you like American-made games, 360 gets majority of the good ones. (Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, etc.)

Has slightly better online gameplaying, but seeing as you pay 50 bucks a year for it, it's bound to be slightly better than Playstation's online.

Mistwalker so far has made a few good RPG's for 360.

Cons:
The biggest problem is faulty hardware. The 360 has a 18% failure rating compared to PS3's 2-3%.

360 has the Red Ring of Death where it basically kills your 360.

360 has been known to scratch discs.

So much faulty hardware, it actually has a wikipedia page entirely on the problems of the 360.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems

Most of the games on 360 are overrated.

Example:

Halo 3: It does not deserve 10/10 because it was super short, the first two were better, and Microsoft paid the reviewers for better reviews.

Mass Effect: Mass Defect is a terrible game... nuff said.

Lost Odyssey: A solid japanese RPG game, but you might as well just play Final Fantasy X.

Gears of War: Gears of Bore, I literally fell asleep.
