if they're a true hikamori it would be impossible to know them since they never leave their house

(well mabey not, but i've always wanted to use that image)

yo a hikikomori can go out of their house but the problem with them is they dotn socialize with anyone and that has been my problem with me also because i just cant god damit socialize with anyone so people who have a struggle in socializing are called hikikomoris

just because you hate going out that doesnt makes you a hikikomori
i bet half of you guys are only overdoing it... for attention lol

and if you're a hikikomori so what about food? money? school (since few of you are teenagers)? lol or maybe your family is supporting isolation?

Well I'm a Hikikomori from the U.S. although not a teenager or a neet. I've got a job as a contract cleaner, i.e., I clean car dealerships after hours. I only have to work with 1 other person (my boss) that makes it a lot easier. No I don't live with my parents. As 4 food we (my bf & I) usually go to a 24hr. supermarket. Bills = direct deposit. I do have friends that I've known since childhood, most of which have at least some hikikomori tendencies (kinda like a "birds of a feather ..." type of thing I guess). Although we don't visit 1 another very often we do stay in contact via e-mail, phone(sometimes), and sms/texting.

I may have said too much. I just want for people to have a better understanding of what it can mean to be an adult hikikomori. Not all of have a desire to stay this way. And not all of us COMPLETELY cut our self's off from all human contact (just the masses...as much as humanly possible).

Which is y I really like this anime b'cuz of it's more realistic portrayal of hikikomori life.

I can relate to littostix in almost every way, but i go to school and im not afraid of talking to people sometimes. I'm the kid who you see always sitting by himself in the corner(only when friend arent in class). I am extremely shy and paranoid. I cant really call myself full hikikomori or neet but im close enough.

Well i just want to point out not all hikikamoris have panic attacks every single second they see a person.

i would have called myself a neet in the past, but then i got friends from school, started hanging out and such. Although, this anime is pretty great, gives you things to think about in life, and at least, in a way, it helps you how hard things are. Like that one part where, Yoichi was starving for soo long, then he finally made a move. He started working and living on his own without worrying about his sister. Although, we don't know what happened to them later on, but hell at least he's changed for the better then play MMORPG's all the time.
