I'm a filipino whose lineage comes from the northern province (ilokanos) mixed with the cultures from the Visayans and Tausugs (an ethnic group/islam)

Since everyone knows Filiipno culture is a mixed of asian cultures, i practiced some of it. Some I don't. Here is my list

1. Christmas
2. New year (the roman and chinese)
3. Holy week
4. some national holidays (we really love this one. 2x pay)
5. Octoberfest
6. Valentines

What I don't practice

1. Fiesta (festivals for random patron saint)
2. catholic practices
3. Halloween
4. Blood fued <---families from the provinces usually practice this.
5. Fixed marriages

in short, look at Spain. Look at China + Islam practices and you'll come up with Philippines.

I envy australians. I heard they have to go to work from around 11am up to 5pm-8pm then everyone goes to a local bar and drink all night then the following day, they go to work again then drink. Man. I envy those guys

Interesting, I believe this barely borders a topic you'd see in the Extended Discussion thread.
Though I am born here in Texas, I celebrate what I remember but other than that, nothing new, just another American life trying to live a good life.

i'm from Trinidad in the Caribbean. like many caribbean and latin american countries we celebrate carnival (meaning: farewell to flesh). it is celebrated on the monday and tuesday before ash wednesday (which is when lent, and therefore fasting, begins). my country celebrates a myriad of religious holidays as national holidays, not just christian. For example Eid-ul-Fitr (muslim) and Divali (hindu) are both national holidays. I must say that this is one reason why i love my country so much, there is at least 1 holiday a month.

My family is Danish, Swiss and English on my Dad's side and Swedish and English on my Mom's side. Close to half my family is Christian based on my mother's side and the other half is Atheist on my father's. We celebrate many of the typical holidays seen in the United States, especially Christmas.
