Whats a good album to start with for the Flaming Lips? I keep meaning to get into them, but I never seem to get around to it.

i would suggest "yoshimi battles the pink robots" that was the first one i ever heard and im quite fond of it but i also enjoy "Clouds tase metallic"

That depends. If you like something that rocks a little harder, try Transmissions from the Sattelite Heart. That album got them their only radio hit ever (and what a weird radio hit!).
My personal favorite is 2002's Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, which is generally mellow and techno-y. Or, you could go way back to their 1989 album In a Preist Driven Ambulance, which exemplefies their early weirdness, while still rocking pretty hard (for the Lips, that is)
