I personally would prefer the Chidori, for it's strategic potential.

Come on, in Shippuden, the Rasengan mixed with Wind-Element (Rasenshuriken) you can see how powerful Rasengan is with elements. Wind Rasengan is like unleashing a hurricane in the palm of your hands. Just imagine adding the other elements. So yea, Rasengan is the way to go.
