I'm supposed to start my lesson today...

But I don't know what to teach, actually. Should we start with the basics of Photoshop..? Like how to use this and that or would you like me to teach you a cool trick in Picture Editing (like making clones, using photoshop brushes, animation, etc)..?

Since my brother wans me off the PC before I could finish the lesson I was about to give, I'll do it later or more possibly tomorrow...

Just to let you know, the lesson is on the basics of Photoshop; more specifically the tools and their functions... I had to search for pictures of it so it will be easier but it took so long and my brother's an impatient fellow

So sorry I have to leave early...

Okay...I finally got this lesson out..! I apologize for the long wait..!

LESSON ONE: PHOTOSHOP TOOLS

*The Toolbar and its parts.*

Now, I'll explain one by one how each works and you better pay attention. Okay..? Here I go:

Rectangular Marquee Tool - (Shortcut Key=M)
>This tool is used to make a rectangular selection on your picture. If you hold down the [Shift] Key, this tool let's you create perfect square selection.

Move Tool - (Shortcut Key=V)
>This tool pretty much explains itself, don't you think..? Basically, you can move the objects in a layer with this tool and by holding down the [Shift] key you can limit the movements to Vertical & Horizontal only.

Lasso Tool - (Shortcut Key=L)
>This is a tool that does pretty much the same thing as the Rectangular Marquee tool but the difference is that you're free to select a shape you like. This tool is most often use in removing the background of an image. The other Lasso tools (Polygon & Magnetic) have different uses and if you need me to elaborate just ask.

Magic Wand Tool - (Shortcut Key=W)
>This is used to select a color range. It will select a block of color or tranparency based on where you clicked. Personally I use this to take rid of the background of pictures but you'll find it much to tedious and I suggest using the Lasso Tools instead.

Crop Tool - (Shortcut Key=C)
>You might be familiar with this term as it is used so much. This tool let's you "crop" or select a portion of your image that you want to remain. This tool is most used making 100x100 avatars. It's much like the Rectangular Marquee tool too, only when you press [Enter] the un-selected portions will disappear.

Slice Tool - (Shortcut Key=K)
>This is used in website making. Basically, it splits the image into smaller ones when you save it out. I haven't used this tool before and it's kinda advanced so we're not gonna elaborate so much on this.

Healing Brush Tool - (Shortcut Key=J)
>You can use this tool to repair scratches and specs and stuff like that on images. You choose your cursor size, then holding the [Alt] key, you select a nice/clean area of your image. Let go of the [Alt] key and paint over the bad area. It basically copies the info from the first area to the second, in the form of the Brush tool.

Brush Tool - (Shortcut Key=B)
>This is my favorite tool! It's so easy to use and fun too. It just paints on your image and you can choose the shape and size of your brush (you can even make one of your own!). There are sites that let's you download cool brushes; all with different shapes (butterflies, flowers, etc). All you need to do is drag and/or click with this tool.

Clone Stamp Tool - (Shortcut Key=S)
>This is very similar to the Healing Brush Tool (see above). You use it the exact same way, except this tool doesn’t blend at the end. It’s a direct copy of the information from the first selected area to the second.

History Brush Tool - (Shortcut Key=H)
>This tool works just like the Brush Tool (see above) except the information that it paints with is from the original state of your image. If you go Window>History, you can see the History Palette. The History Brush tool paints with the information from whatever History state is selected.

Eraser Tool- (Shortcut Key=E)
>This is the anti-brush tool. It's self-explanatory really. It erases everything you click on or drag over. An easy to learn tool.

Gradient Tool - Shortcut Key=G)
>It creates a blending of your foreground color and background color when you click and drag it. Like a gradient.

Blur Tool - (Shortcut Key=R)
>The Blur tool is cool. It makes things blurry. Click and drag to make things blurry. The more you click and drag, the blurrier things get.

Dodge Tool - (Shortcut Key=O)
>It’s actually used to lighten whatever area you use it on. As long as it is not absolute black. Absolute black won’t lighten.

Path Selection Tool - (Shortcut Key=A)
>This is used when working with paths. I'm not so familiar with this tool since I've never used it but I know it's related to the pen tool (see below).

Horizontal Type Tool - (Shortcut Key=T)
>Long story short, this is what you use when you want to insert text to your pictures. It works like the one in the Paint program so I guess I don't have to explain further.

Pen Tool - (Shortcut Key=P)
>It’s for creating paths, in which you would use the Path Selection Tool to select the path. Paths can be used in a few different ways, mostly to create clipping paths, or to create selections. You use the tool by clicking to add a point. If you click and drag, it will change the shape of your path, allowing you to bend and shape the path for accurate selections and such. You'll find that this tool is difficult to use; I'm still practicing this myself.

Rectangle Tool - (Shortcut Key=U)
>Obviously, this creates a rectangle. Whatever foreground (to be explained below) color is, it's the fill of the rectangle. Hope that made sense. It's fairly simple though.

Notes Tool - (Shortcut Key=N)
>Like post-it notes, but digital. You can use this tool to add small little note boxes to your image. These are useful if you’re very forgetful or if you’re sharing your Photoshop file with someone else.

Eyedropper Tool - (Shortcut Key=I)
>This tool works by changing your foreground color to whatever color you click on. Holding the [Alt] key will change your background color.

Hand Tool - (Shortcut Key=T)
>You can really make short work of your job with the Hand Tool. It’s for moving your entire image within a window. So if you’re zoomed in and your image area is larger than the window, you can use the Hand Tool to navigate around your image. Just click and drag. You can get to this tool at any time when using any other tool by pressing and holding the [Spacebar].

Zoom Tool - (Shortcut Key=Z)
>It zooms in on your picture, simply enough. Hold the [Alt] key to zoom out. Holding the [Shift] key will zoom all of the windows you have open at the same time. Double-click on the Zoom Tool in the palette to go back to 100% view.

Color Boxes
>Foreground (in the front) and Background (in the back). Click on either one to bring up the color select dialog box. [Alt + Backspace] will fill your layer with the foreground color.

LESSON END

Phew...
I glad that I finally got it finished!!!
I hope you guys learned something from this.
