How does anime appeal to u if ur an adult?
Posted 6/2/08
I still think people who call anime "childish" would really shut the hell up and respect the medium if they watched stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Golgo 13

now that i am a grown-up, i find myself watching a lot of anime. i work hard to have a career, but i sometimes hate being all serious and having a lot of responsibility. watching anime allows me to be a kid again.

Being a kid in heart is really awesome It takes all the stress away from work... well, homework for me anyways >.>

"homework"... i haven't heard that word in so long... it seems like everyone on CR is so young - it must be nice. i feel like an old bat, even though i'm only in my twenties!

You feel like an old bat? Your age still has the word "teen" in it. I'm probably the oldest person here, and am starting to feel like a creepy old man.

Anime doesn't have a age requirement so it doesn't affect anyone in any way it's just that every person has their own perspective on this I'm not really considered to be a adult but I work as much or more that a adult except i dont have kids tho even so i'll still watch
It's the time to fit it in with work and social activities of a adult that is the real problem

What is the child to adult cut off age? Anyways I love anime because everything is generally 100% hand drawn and that takes alot of patience not to grafic sub now a days. That and there are alot of story lines that North American cartoon creators wont touch unless its a rip off . But I have also noticed that there arent many fans that I have found born before the 1970's (besides a few family friends) it seems to only have caught on with ppl under 30.

that's the greatness of anime, there are all types of shows for all different ages, it can go from Heidi to Cowboy bebop. Age isn't important, people who don't know anything about anime think it's childish 'cause the characters are drawings, but they don't know about the deep stories that happen and so. In my opinion it doesn't matter if you are 40 and you like anime, everybody is free to choose what they like

um, good question I guess I'm an adult now blah but I see anime as the same as I did when I was little. Its a form of entertainment and a way to escape my daily life. Specially when everything I do i life I generally hate to do so anime is a way to escape this crappy world everyonce an awhile.

Hey. Neat post!

Well, I'm wicked old! But I'm not sure the age factor here has much to do with my enjoyment of Anime. It's pretty much a personal preference thing.

I really enjoy certain Anime shows over "live action" shows for probably three big reasons:
1.) I'm not really into the gory shows, but it seems I can stomach the graphic violence (so far) in Anime, like with some of my all-time favorites like Elfen Lied, EVA, Ninja Scroll Movie, and Claymore, to name a few. I probably couldn't stomach Elfen Lied in live-actoin. I'd be running for the hills!

2.) The slap-stick comedy in the animation shows is a real hoot! Like with Chiodori beating on Sousuke all the time in FMP, and the main guy in Seto No Hanayome getting blasted and stomped on and shot at... etc. etc. etc. BwaHaHaaa! You just don't see that as much in the live action shows. There is some pretty cool action stuff in Anime too, like with EVA, Ninja scroll movie, and Claymore. But I have to say that the edge goes to live action as far as the action goes like with the Matrix (especially the second movie) and Underworld movies.

3.) And lastly, I've really enjoyed the strong emotions in alot of my favorite series like the ones I've mentioned, as well as shows like MONSTER, Mai Hime, Ouran High, and some good parts of Ai Yori Aoshi and Please Twins. Elfen Lied has the widest variety of super strong emotions with incidents of rage, terror, sadness, and happiness and caring. Again, I'm not seeing a ton of live action shows with this level of intense emotions that I really enjoy.

So, I guess that otherwise one difference I'm thinking about related to my age is that I'm finding I'm not as interested in the numerous High School shows that seem very popular. It makes sense there might be an age factor here.
