My mp3 is mostly downloaded music. The artists I listen to don't release their CD's here in Canada, so the only way I can buy the CD is online, for like $30 (album).

Obviously I'd want to love the album before spending so much on it (I'm a high school student, so I have to beg my parents for the credit card).

If I couldn't download music for free, I wouldn't have heard of any of the artists on my mp3 right now.

Hmm I have never bought a real cd album in my life. When i was a kid I got a casset player when they were considered old so I recorded music from my radio and put it on cassets. When I got a cd player cds were too expensive for me (since I was kid) but I got my stuff from a bootleger that had a buisness nearby, so I got those insted for cheap and by that time you could copy cds and make your own. Now I just download music and dont use blank cds anymore so for me I dont know if I could give a good perspective since I never bought a real album from a store ever.

ps. Its not like I didnt try I did go a few times to a record store but they were too expensive for someone like me who knew bootlegers and could downlaod songs.

ya. you just gotta upload the file to what ever program you use to update your mp3 player.

just open the music file to itunes. it should work.

I really don't care. And plus it's so much faster than going to the store. And plus plus, xD, when you look at an album probably only about 2-3 songs are actually good to listen to out of what like 20?

I don't download that much anymore, but I purchased the program for Frostwire, back when it was still called Limewire. Don't know if that's still getting freee, illegal downloads or not, but I don't do it anymore, anyway.

It's not about selling music they want you to pay $15-$18 for shiny plastic discs that cost them pennies to make, that's why they got so rich. for awhile they purposely didn't release singles for a popular song so that you Had to buy the album...

I don't mind, I think some artist themselves also do free downloading. I really wouldn't buy an album before trying it out first.

If your really a fan, you would buy their album.

iunno if this has anything to do with this forum.. but anyways .. i would rather download than buy the CD because, well first of all, i really dont have favourite artists, just favourite songs. second, if i do buy their CDs im like .. 99% certain i wont even like around half the songs on the CD o__o and third. i save money when im downloading, and artists can get money from tours, concerts, etc. and besides, all my songs on my ipod, i downloaded .. and about 2 or 5 of my songs could be found on a CD o__o

Its like a 50/50 kind of thing. I personally don't download free or illegal music because I like supporting the artist who make the music I like. Now most of the money that is made from album sales are taken by the record label. If it wasn't for the live shows and merchandise sales a lot of these bands would be broke but at the same time it has given a lot of other bands the chance to be noticed and maybe grow into a bigger product. Live music has grown a lot these past few years so I guess the exposure only helps...It depends on how u look at it.

eh, not a big problem imo. artists usually get their money from touring and playing shows anyway. if it wasnt for illegal downloads, some or many artist may not be as popular as they r now. =]
