I would like Valentines better if it was a day off from school or work. Then I will always be happy to know that Valentines is coming. Then at least I can watch anime at home and not have to bother with the couples.

I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day. Without fail, I'm always alone & that sucks so much. ^^;

I digress mushroomjay, whats wrong with #4? See this allows us to bypass #2.

Just another silly holiday.

What about that BS stuff they do in grade school, valentines box and all that jazz. Geez.

I have a staff meeting on Valentine's. And there is no one in the world that I love less than my boss. If only staff meetings meant that all the employees got together with staves and beat our boss senseless. That would boost morale... and keep people from fighting over promotions.

If only only puns were the law of the land... That would be a dark land indeed.

I've found most of the people who don't like Valentine's Day either don't like it because
A. They don't have someone to celebrate it with
B. They think they're "above" all the silliness.

Now it's true you should appreciate your loved ones everyday of the year, but what's wrong with one day where you do something extra? It's completely unrealistic to expect all the plans and such that happen on Valentine's Day to be done on everyday of the year. I'm not saying some parts aren't cheesy or fake, of course some are, but that doesn't destroy the entire holiday. I think it's completely acceptable to celebrate Valentine's Day as a special day were you do something extra to show your love.

Valentine's day doesn't hold any real significance to me. =X Except to eat chocolate, visit friends, and if they're too far away, send a super huge card bigger than the size of your tv screen [yay ♥]. If I had the choice to spend time with a significant other, or a sad friend, I'll hang out with my friend. He doesn't know me well if he thinks I'm going to ditch a friend. =]

Presents...I try to do something creative. o..O I like creative things back. Honestly, I'm happy if you even bothered getting me anything. But the real secret to getting what a girl wants [lawl. XD], is to listen to what she's saying, they're like secret underlying clues to what she might like for Valentine's day.

But everyone who has a partner expects something for Valentines, and that to me ruins part of the fun. It's way better to do extra things when your significant other is not expecting it.
I don't really like Valentine's day that much (no one's trying to destroy the entire holiday) but it's not because of your lovely false dichotomy is because Valentines here in US seems like it's only for couples, but I'm used to celebrating the "Love and Friendship day" because you celebrate with all your friends and I have had lots of more fun with this holiday than with Valentine's =P

Nice try mauz, but she did write "I've found". She is not arguing towards a necessary conclusion.

And yea, who here is arguing to do away with it. Just town it down I guess or widen it.

Re to bellow: Huh, I thought you used it as just an extra emotive word. Still don't quite get what your saying, but no matter.
