Changes?

this was my first yuri anime, the first time i watched it, i was embaressed but it was really nice

no...it would not have been a good anime if it was straight.
i dont know why, but i feel like the yuri element was necessary for the story.

i like the anime the way it is, wouldn't change a thing ^_^

I completely agree that it was the way it was in the story...
It has a unique story, interesting characters, nice plot and
completely awesome in all aspects... Though its uniqueness to other anime
may cause others viewers to lose interest in the story try watching i until the latter
part and u will see what im talking about... an absolutely great anime ^_^

more popular?
no not really. Strawberry Panic's already really popular. I found out about it before I even really like yaoi, (and i love yaoi >.<) and then I was like (but blushie xD) and honestly I actually really like yuri xDDD it's cute, funny and entertaning 8D

Nah... im not much of a yuri fan myself but strawberry panic is one of the few yuri anime i like. ^^
Ayame, Shizuma and Yaya are like guys.. its just their gender thats not thats all.

I have to say I would not have bothered watching it had it been a 'normal' anime.
I actually LOOK for yuri and yaoi, where as I tend to stay away from others, I find that I prefer these.
So no, I am glad that they were all female.

To be honest, I think that it being Yuri balanced everything out. The anime seems more interesting that way but let's say it was a straight anime, it would be something normal as it has been recreated numerous of times, Strawberry Panic all the way xD

i do agree that strawberry panic is best as it is. and it does make the story a bit different and not boring. ^_^

Wow guys......The Japanese view girl love and boy love very differently than the Western world. It's all fantasy, it is not literal, thats why parents in Japan generally let their kids read/watch it because they don't take is as identifying with being gay.

So no, I wouldn't change it. I think only people brought up with only Western views (not bad!!) would take this as a lesbian show. It's FANTASY! Every other anime with 'hetero' people always make fun of the IDEA of shoujo-ai (girl love). I mean take Hayate no Gotoku! If you've seen the show you would remember the butler for the principal/headmistress of the rich school who was 'in love' with her mistress? her character was destroyed to a sniveling, drooling fool...no 'girl love' relationship could continue, the mistress all of a sudden was interested in Hayate (i admit he is a little pretty!)

There are just SO many examples of how the Japanese people really view gay relationships that even the question of 'would this anime be more popular if it was straight' doesn't make sense. They don't generally make anime or manga for the Western world anymore. There's many niche and mainstream readers and viewers in Japan.

The show is perfect.
