I don't actually celebrate it but because i have a chinese friend that does, I will probably do something with her. Last year she cooked a huge posh Chinese meal for me and some other friends! It was so good! ^-^ It will also give me an excuse to speak as much Chinese as i can and want for a day!
^-^

o.O ummm.......clean the house to prepare for the lunar new year...... set oranges/tangerines with red envelopes around the house? eat a good dinner on new years eve?

On New years....eat mainly vegetables for breakfast and eat a small peice of brown sugar before i got out(whole purpose of eating the sugar is to make sure you say something sweet all the time instead of something bad)... wear new clothes for the new year(usually saved clothes from Christmas so i don't have to go shopping).....Nothing special for me...just downtown Chinatown area for here and blow up firecrackers ^^

*Sigh* I'm going to miss eating meat on new years

I know that ppl talk about big meals and lycee all the time...er spend time with the family. but i'm kinda surprised no one does some of the preparations. o.O either that or its just not mentioned. oh well. New generation forgets the traditional stuff over time since all that matters is the red envelopes ^^ You do know how that stuff works right? not just anyone gets one. well supposedly.

I guess that's a perk of not being anywhere near other relatives--I don't have to give them money. XD But if I did, I'll probably be those aunts who give them things other than money, and they'll be all "damn".

But you've never had moon cakes? o..o I love them! The weird fruit candies..not so much.

SOmething other than money? is that permited? j/k just give them like $5 or $10...For the moon cakes....Cantonese style is very popular....and the red bean filling is good...they have ones that are plain red bean filling, ones with 1 yolk, ones with 2. and same with the Lotus seed moon cakes. I like the Lotus ones, but they are more expensive to buy.
