Actually you will see that a lot in anime. Many of the writers in japan ADORE westerns, and he's in a lot of the best ones.

This is not a duplicate thread the one you posted is asking if you know any other vampire animes this one is asking what your favorite vampire anime is they are 2 differant things.

Helsing and Vampire Hunter D are my favorites, but I particularly enjoyed the vampiric aspects of Karas. I thought that it was quite well done.

So is there a thread about favorite vampire IN anime as opposed to favorite anime about vampires?

Oh, I know. But the opening shot of the first movie just reminds of Clint's first appearance in Fistful of dollars. Plus his voice is Eastwood-ish. You could argue that Spike Spiegel and Brandon Heat (from gungrave) are also Eastwood inspired

You could also argue that male leads from Miazaki (Sp?) movies are Eastwood inspired. It's particularly true of the movie Ninja Scroll.

Yup. Especially when you see Jubei wearing the Japanese hat. Most of Kurosawa's samurai movies looked like westerns as well.

If you study film you have to note the impact that Eastwood movies had on the entire movie making genre. Eastwood films pioneered the anti hero archetype. A character who is the good guy, but who is not a perfect knight in shining armor who sings songs and never gets a scratch on him. The character is more believable than the pansy (pardon the expression) gunslinger.

There is also a lot of apeal in Japan for a character who is able to carve his way through sheer skill. Have you seen Seven Samurai (Movie not anime)? Those are many of the Japanese archetypal characters. Almost all of them can be translated into western gunslingers with ease.
