hi guys. I want to learn from you on what you think about kimbo slice entering the mix martial arts circuit. He's a famous street fighter known for his exploits on the youtube. His current mma standing is 3-0. What do you think the future holds for him? Can he topple the likes of randy couture or chuck liddell, fedor (forgot his surname), cro cop, etc? Come on guys! i want your honest opinion. Thank you.

(other mma discussions are also welcome)

That dude is huge. And street fighting isn't martial arts so I don't really know why he's entering into the mixed martial arts circuit. He does have a powerful punch but that's not technique, he just has huge muscles and a steel fist lol

i believe right now he's being currently trained by the legendary mma bas rutten. He's improving at a good rate. but his last fight with .... what's his name? johnson or thompson. showed his weakness in the ground game. he struggled. many mma fighters such as tito ortiz , frank and ken shamrock belittle his mma skills. what do you think? who do you want him to fight?

maybe to end all the jests and speculations and to earn some dough. but i think he's better at boxing though. More money and the heavyweight division in boxing needs some excitement. After lewis, the heavyweight scene became dull.

The man is a freakin powerhouse. capable of not only giving but receiving vast amounts of punishment. I don't know if the UFC is ready for him. The man is a street fighter their is no doubt about that, and his technical skils do leave something to be desired. But I honeslty dont see anyone in the ufc capable of doing the kind of damage it's going to take to stop this guy. If they can manage to submit him around that mass that passes as his upper body, someone might beat him but I really think that's his only problem. If/when he learns the ground game he's going to be in a class all his own. He's too damn tough

I agree. It would make more sense for him to join the rings. That's right up his alley.

And on another note, dude had a point; streetfighting is not martial arts. But so what?

The only real difference is form. In martial arts you are taught specific ways to do things based on the properties of that style. Through training you're taught how to react a certain way to certain attacks. As well as specific ways to attack. But those can both become predictable.

Street fighting is about hitting as many of their parts with as many of your parts as possible. What it lacks in grace it makes up in straight forwardness. Not to mention street fighting has no rules, no mercy and no ref. So if anything street fighters are made tougher by harshness.

And while skill can usually beat brute force, with a monster like Kimbo it's gonna be tough

but during his streetfighting days, he only fought people who didn't have proper fight training. Most of them looked fat and unhealthy. Pardon me but i think even arlovski can own him. he needs more mma training to be at par with the ufc contenders. Kimbo's last fight with a mediocre fighter leaves lest to be desired. The guy trade punches with him. Maybe in a year or so, but not now.
What can you say about the prospect of brock lesnar fighting kimbo slice?

if you watched him fight last week, you know he's just a mediocre fighter. He lost that fight twice and the ref didn't stop the fight. He tapped in the first round (he swears he didn't , but it surelooked like he did) and the fight should have been stopped in the second, when James Thompson landed 15 to 20 elbows to his face. That fight was rigged, and it was a shame. You mentioned Fedor and Crocop, There is no way he would survive with those two. Fedor would arm bar his ass in 42 seconds and Crocop would knock him out with his left high kick. See Crocop vs Wanderlei Silva- fight 2 to see what a real pro-striker does to a brawler.
