I always find myself in complete agreement with brennan. We have the same passion apparently.

And for the record: Yes, the VA-3M Invader can of course go anywhere a normal VF can and more--Underwater. In my book that's simply brilliant!

You guys should really play Macross VF-X2.

In addition. The YF series can't really be compared with the VF series as they were experimentals. However, the YF-19 Excalibur and the YF-21 Surmvogel both have several full production VF series models and customs. The YF-21 Sturmvogel is known as the Guld Goa Bowman custom---which was lost in the fight against the unmanned X-9 in Macross Plus.

If I recall correctly, the YF-21 was dropped due to problems with the BDI and BSD interface. The production model was the VF-22 Sturmvogel II. The VF-22 had a more conventional piloting interface, and was piloted by Max and Milia Jenius in the last few episodes of M7.

Actually, I like most, if not all, the VFs from Macross, even the non UN Spacy ones.

I personally find pointless to say which VF is the best, because successive generations will out perform the earlier units.

True true. The YF-21 had a fatal flaw--which was basically fatal to the pilot. It was considered too dangerous to fly despite it's limiter. (Guld Bowman can attest to that--wherever in the spirit world he is) And yes the VF-22 Sturmvogel II indeed had a better interface than its predecessor.

I like some of the Defenders models but they always get smashed cause all they do is shoot, miss, and blow up. Though in Macross Zero, they were cool to watch them go at it but in the end.....they got smashed lol

Though i personally like the YF-19...just wish they show up in MF.

Performance-wise I would prefer the VF-9 Cutlass over the YF-19 Excalibur. I find the compact design of the Cutlass to be more pleasing to the eye than that of the Excalibur.

But then again it doesn't really matter what VF fighter is used cause it all boils down to the Pilot. Maximilian Jenius (Considered to be one of the best if not THE best pilot in the Macross realm) could pilot a VF-1A Valkyrie and probably still win over a VF like the Sturmvogel or Messiah. It's all about piloting skills. I beat VF-X, VF-X2, Macross Plus Game Edition, Macross M3 and Macross for the PS2 with the lowest class VF's available and I survived. In a lot of ways it's kinda like Ace Combat. It's pilot over machine. You can have the most technologically advanced VF but if you can't pilot it properly then it's pointless.

I was gonna vote VF-0, since it was closest to modern-day jets age-wise.

I was gonna go for the Thunderbolt, but I don't see it in the poll...

Excalibur then.
