Hmm... i think i'll use one of the most basic style in making a couple, thus it should be someone who has totally opposite of L's character so they could compliment each other...
since L is smart, it that someone should be stupid,
since L is somewhat aloof, he should be paired with someone who is outgoing
since L loves to eat sweets, his sweetheart should be someone who loves to make sweets

i think Milfeulle Sakuraba from galaxy angels would be a good partner for L

I can't fully agree with your formula. I am intelligent and thus I want a guy with whom I can intelligent discourse. He might be put off by someone who lacks his thought level and thus disregard them. Part of his friendship (Yes, friendship. I don't buy this gay stuff. Sounds like fan girl nonsense to me.) with Light is that they are equals in intellect.

i'm not saying that this thing works everytime, but most of the time this is the pattern writers do in characterizing couples... "opposite attracts" that kinda thing

Good analogy. Unfortunately a lot of authors make love sort of shallow. (Hello super speed romance in shoujo!) There's a lot to consider when choosing someone with whom you desire a romantic relationship. While I do think that your formula is commonly used by writers it just isn't how it would work in reality. Ugh... love you complicated hussy!!

Love in reality is totally a different thing.
And from what i've learned Love is a task, because to unite and make 2 different person as one is one hell of a task.

Indeed. It takes more than the classic "eye contact and blush" to fall in love. Many people really don't take love seriously enough. Asking someone on a date after knowing them for an hour isn't love. I believe that is infatuation. Can L find satisfaction in shallow infatuation? No. No one can.

Maybe I am taking this too seriously. (Consider the maturity level of many of our fellow posters.) Still I don't think he needs or wants anyone. Maybe he's having a good time being a swingin' bachelor!

Well if we look closely at L's character, i think he is someone who values himself over everything/anybody else, the fact that he never showed any romantic interest in any of the character in the story. instead he spent his entire lifetime proving that he is right, L love himself so much (pride), thats why maybe he never had a chance to love anybody in the story.

Secretleavings.... MAybe you will not belive it, but the girl i love ,and i am with her already 6 year.
We have meet in a "eye contact and blush" scene So in real life can it also true, but its not many:D

For L i think if he would live in real and dont die young he will be workholic and single forever!

I don't really see romance ever working out for someone so disconnected from the world. His job is his life and thus he can't deal with people very well. It would take some kind of woman to be able to make him happy. Besides, I think he is content where he is. Love isn't for everyone.

i agree.

Aaaawe! Way to go Alabarnet! That's sweet. Still I tend to stand on the side of "Love At First Sight Is A Crock".

You know, I have never even considered the idea of L being plagued by pride and thus eliminating his ability to appreciate others. Maybe I should write an essay on this... To my psychology notes!
