So you guys all understand Japanese? Do you think you can fansub a series for me?
Posted 3/10/07
Sorry, me personally do not know any asian language; apart from what i've picked up from anime and dramas... But some of the girls/guys in this thread do, if they are interested in helping you out that would be great. The only other way I know of is going to dattebayo and pay them to translate something for you.
I have yet to use them but I am seriously considering it for one thing...

What's the minimum amount of Japanese needed to translate? I have taken 3 courses of Japanese already.

I never took any classes, I learned from CD sets and most of all, going there. Nothing teaches you better than going to Japan. I would say if you can hold a conversation without pausing, then you can do it. Hell, I can't even read Japanese.

killar u are one strange individual lol.

but I think that's what makes u unique.
I totally agree w/ him about going to japan itself.
It's like forcing your brain to learn it, u dont really have a choice but to.

Or....you can just wait for a fansub group to pick up the project? Make your life a lot easier. But that does mean you'll have to wait.

^Some dramas are never subbed. I'm watching one now thats been out for about 3 years and no FS group has picked it up. Also most FS groups don't sub game shows or promos. So if your favorite actress is interviewed on a game show, you will never know what they are saying.

I think that there was one person on crunchyroll who said that he would like to be able to help someone translate and sub a series just for experience. Forgot the username... but he did make a thread in the general forum about that.

Got a question... I'm interested in subbing some chinese series and I've got VobSub as well as Windows Movie Maker on my computer. The only problem is that the original video files are in rmvb format. Is there someway I can change the file format so that I can use Windows Movie Maker or is there another program that I can use with videos in rmvb format?

^ Why not? CR wants almost every film to have its dialogue in original language and English subtitled.

File your request in this thread:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/showforumtopic?id=287

Just type a film title and explain you want this with English subtitles.
