its kinda hot in here esp during day time so pls wear something comfy. if your dont mind, you can taste some of our delicacies and street food (just be sure they looked clean). I suggest you stay in a hotel, there are lots of them, and dont ever ever check in motels (which are rendevous for you know). Im sure you will like the place coz generally prices are cheap (that is for foreigners)

Philippines may not the best country, but pls be understanding enough. Enjoy your vacation!!!

3-4 days is an overstatement. only 1 day with sore knees. if you get lost, maybe 2 days. ahahaha.

What are some good places to visit and eat if one were to travel to the Philippines for about a week with a reasonable amount of cash?

Well, I'd suggest these places:

Cebu:
*Staying at Plantation Bay on Mactan Island for the nights would be pretty good I guess. They have big pools, and a white sand beach.
*Cebu doesn't really have nice tourist spots, but they have alot of disco bars in "Mango".
*The only pertty well known tourist spots is Taoist Temple & Fort San Pedro.
*For malls, try SM. It's been renovated and now its even bigger. It's REALLY HUGE.

Bohol:

*Sagbayan Peak, Chocolate Hills, Loboc River. And try to get to Baksan too.. They have this huge snake there, and the entertainer isn't bad either.
*I always stay at "Isla Hayahay: Beach Resort & Restaurant" located at Pangangan. They have a really nice and quiet place.

Boracay:

*I haven't been to Boracay yet, but if you just want to go sun bathing and enjoy the swimming, their white sand beaches is the best!

Palawan:

*Haven't been here either but I know the place is truly beautiful. You should try boating there

Manila:

*Shopping at SM Mall of Asia. It's the biggest mall in Asia. A day won't be enough to tour the whole thing.(if you'll be shopping)

Suggestions and Warnings:

*Paying with Visa ain't easy in the Philippines.
*Don't put your cash/wallet in your back pockets. If you have a small bag, try to keep it infront of you when walking at public places.
*Taking a Taxi is advisable.
*Don't wear any expensive jewelry.
*Don't use your phone at public places like sidewalks. You may never see your phone again.
*Don't let people see all your money.
*Don't leave your belongings unattended!
*Don't drink tap water.
*Don't get too close with hookers, they just want your money.
*Don't trust anyone too much.
*People may sometimes try to fool you to get money out of you so play it smart buddy

Philippines is a pretty cheap place. If you know where to go...

Hope I was at any help

*Buy "Off" lotion, just in case. There are alot of mosquitoes in the phils, and they love biting foreigners. I have no Idea why..

I studied my High school there and then returned to the US after, I never really got the hang of the Filipino language (too difficult >_<). Food there is yummy.
I like Italianis..hehe. Oh and Recipes in Greenbelt, Makati. I l love that mall, I love shopping there!
I like Via Mare, I liek the food there. Oh..so many restaurants.....that I like in the Philippines. =/~~~~
Also The Mall of Asia, really big! Although I only go to a certain "secluded" part of it since there's too many people.

Hm. I haven't been around the Philippines. But Palawan is really nice. Their beaches are beautiful. Bagio (sp?) too. I like the flee market there and purple jam thing. Oh and Tagaytay, with the volcano (Taal), Hundred Islands is a must-see. Also the Rice Terraces, I forgot where that is though.
Greenhills too. They have this cheap shopping there, I think it was called uh...Tyange? Lots of nice stuff there!
