I need your team to work better together.So please go kick the crap out of each other in the highly competitive team building event...

What’s the best team building event you’ve ever tried? Or the worst? How did it help or hinder your team? What would your ideal team building event look like?

Please write a comment, I’d like to know what you think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_building

The term 'team building' can refer generally to the selection and motivation of result oriented teams, or more specifically to group self-assessment in the theory and practice of organizational development.

When a team in an organizational development context embarks upon a process of self-assessment in order to gauge its own effectiveness and thereby improve performance, it can be argued that it is engaging in team building, although this may be considered a narrow definition.

The process of team building includes,

* clarifying the goal, and building ownership across the team and
* identifying the inhibitors to teamwork and removing or overcoming them, or if they cannot be removed, mitigating their negative effect on the team.

To assess itself, a team seeks feedback to find out both:

* its current strengths as a team
* its current weakness

To improve its current performance, a team uses the feedback from the team assessment in order to:

* identify any gap between the desired state and the actual state
* design a gap-closure strategy

Well, the only thing I can say thats even close to this is uh, in 11th grade, we had a debate class and they gave us a bunch of stuff to research with each person having something specific to look up. I have a feeling that my team won due to the fact that we were funnier because we were terribly unprepared. But uh... we were funny as a team. lol

Oh, and although we worked perfectly fine and got along together, we never spoked to each other again.

I done it once, our group of 4 each receive a piece of the crossword puzzle, we all tried to finish it by ourself, but we all fail and soon it became a gussing game. But when we look at each other's puzzle, we reliaze that despite being the same puzzle, we all have different clues, we finally work together and finished it.

We had different teams(Mix of 1st-4th years) during our retreat(I've done it for 3 times now) which is done once a year. No matter who I'm grouped with, the results are the same. Not bad but not that effective. To hell with it because I've found the activities boring.
