Need help In choosing a car
Posted 6/8/08
Hello there. I'm new to this section of the mmm forum area. any hooo

My problem is that I'm going home soon back to the US. Since I've been looking up alot of cars. I didn't know which one to choose and what insurance to go with.

My current crop of choice cars are

A Volkswagon gti(2 or 4 door)

Minicooper clubman s

Toyota Prius

SmartTwo???

Yea I think I want a hatchback or something along those lines.

Probally something with alot of cargo space. Which i liked about the Gti folding seats and back. Any hoo my price range for the cars is about 18-24k

Modding the car can wait O__o

any imput is great.

Go to a dealership and test drive each and every one of them, instead of asking the internet..

Gt-racing's advice is correct. Test drive each and every one to truly see if it is the car for you.

I'd recommend a Honda Fit. Corners well, sips gas, and swallows cargo......

EDIT: ...or maybe a new Subaru WRX hatchback.

as stated by GT, test drive a bunch of cars.

However, if you're one of those guys that gets suckered into deals easily over one test run without popping the hood or looking at a spec sheet, then maybe it's best that you instead go to different manufacturers' websites and look at what key points different cars offer.

... or just post more info on what your needs are.

cuz with teh info you just gave me, i say you just go buy a minivan.

uh....those are all very very different cars
what exactly are you looking for, besides cargo space?
something sporty? fuel efficient? just looks nice? daily? weekender? (not likely, i know)
do you feel like you need to mod it or something...?
modding it for the sake of modding, or do you actually care and want to?

At that price range, I'd get an early TSX.

Personally id say you should perous the vast sellection since you are looking for a hatch i would suggest that you take a look at hodas fit, and civic si 2001-06 model, and the acura rsx is the best of both worlds as well, thew best choice would be the mazdaspeed 3, the suby wrx hatch, saub has a really nice hatch as well. there are more but i cant remember now.

get the volkswagen if your planning to mod it or the clubman. if not then test drive it all and and subi impreza to the list.

anything but smart's for two will do if you want boot space. since performance isnt needed and you can save a fair bit depending on where you live i would really opt for th prius.

hmm yea i need alot of cargo space. I have to transport alot of equipment. ie duffel bags, molles, tuff boxxes

Other concerns were mpg city/hwy

On average how much you guy pay for insurance on certain cars

yea i was gonna go test drive them all. But since its a test drive you won't find faults and such from such a short ride. i was wondering if any of you had those cars and or heard of existing problems.

And no im not the guy who gets suckered into deals. Im trying my best to budget things from alot of aspects. decrepiation value, fuel, insurance, maintainance fees, mod/upgradgability.

Oh as for sound systems what would you recommend also?

oh yea i forgot about subaru. i went through like 14 different car sites to check out cars. for about about subaru

the wrx sti is my dream car to get. but i don't want to eat noodles and go to the dfac everyday
