Anime throughout the decades |
Well this one hopes that all you peoples know that Disney animation inspired the first "anime", but this one wishes to discuss and see which style is preferred by most of you peoples-desu.
There have been various style changes over the years, while most of the peoples here probably have not seen old anime (1950s), there are distinct traits in each "era". The original Astro Boy is a good example: rounded characters and such, then one anime come along that is very popular and creates a style change or a paradigm shift if you would (captain Harlock inspiring the style of the 1980s from the 1970s) an example: But this one digresses, what is the preferred style and what one do you peoples feel was personally "the best"-desu. |

it depends on the feel of the anime. I'm not a huge fan of 80s and 90s anime but Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, and Serial Experiments Lain were great and Akira looked good. Maybe it was just the cyberpunk and miyazaki ones that were good then lol. I also hate the DBZ look

DBZ had excessive details, The characters almost looked like they were on steroids. Mobile suit Gundam had good animation.

I like lots of different styles. For example: One Piece's style took me awhile to get used to, but now I love it.
A typical anime style is Shakugan no Shana, where there's nothing to get used to at all. Right now the one I like most are these styles: ** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show** ![]() How do I explain it? Also all the ones on the LEFT in Hom-chan's pic I don't necessarily like and it'll take AGES to get used to. Maybe the too much detail on the nose makes it hard for me to get uesd to... |

Nuuu!!! Poor boy! T^T Anyway, the anime's also became too much ecchi, liek Kanokon, that's a Hentai in disguise of Anime. There's really not that much authors that's not an ecchi maniac anymore, atleast the ones that get their works published. |

Look at Akira Ghost in the Shell, Ergo Proxy (too an extent even Evangelion though that's more mecha/biopunk) |

(do you like Ghost in the Shell or just the avi you currently have?) Cyberpunk has become my favorite sub genre (especially if it also has biopunk leanings) There are so many great shows and movies that I love in that genre like Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell, Serial Experiments Lain, Akira, Aeon Flux...etc. Evangelion even has some cyberpunk-ish things about it (conflict of technology with humanity, heavy on the philosophy) and is definatly a biopunk. |
