The pen is mightier than the sword because treaties, declarations, laws, etc. All these weren't written before the sword, but written after. Cause these written agreements signed by nations have been piling up, nowadays the pen is a lot stronger than it was in our past history. Back then most rulers and leaders all resulted in war and battles because it was a "one man rules all" world. But now as we advance and learn how we as a nation need to realize that we need to help each other, war is a last result if another nation opposes to sign a peace treaty.

Probably not in physical combat but you can sign important documents with pen that can change a lot of things.

The sword is mightier than the pen. =)
My Reasons :
Fighting does not always solve problems, but if you annihilate all those in your way, you wont have problems. The pen does not always help with ideas but it leaves you defenseless and makes people annihilate you. to survive you need the sword for battle and defense because with it comes with strategy which is just as good as written ideas. The thing is, you could always dip the tip of your sword in ink and write with it too =P.

the pen is mightier then the sword for the pen writes the words that sends the swords to war.

but i like swords more then pens. in in a fight i think a sword just might win but only slightly.

Information and Money owns. Post a political scandal on your enemies and let them be bombarded with controversy. Dig some dirty secrets and declare war against other countries. A big number in bank checks given to some specialists can decide your rivals' fate. A strong influence can control the Media into forging news that will move the masses.

Pen pen...because a lot of people are influenced over what people write and this causes wars.

The pen will always be mightier than the sword, ideas will never be enslaved like people, they will
never die like freedom, they will never lose their power like Communism (I'm not one!).
What the sword represents is violence, power, greed in some ways, all which at the end lose.
So if you were to put up a man with a brilliant idea, and a man with a brilliant army, no guess
who would be left alive, but the brilliant idea survives through the ages, and the man's army
dies. That is why people in power try to stop ideas from becoming actions, because they fear
their repercussions, they fear what they might become, and most times people with ideals are crushed,
but their ideals survive, so the pen will always be mightier than the sword.
