Even if the terms Yaoi and Shounen-Ai are dated, it still help you put them into categories. Japan has a rating system on their comics just like here, sometimes they are even plastic wrapped in the store so you know what's inside. There are plenty of stories with guy on guy that don't have sex as detailed, but keep in mind that these writers are adults. I write plenty of short stories/DJ plots/Fanfiction/Whatever that have all the flowers and shiny hearts with romance, but I like to write the smut too. I like stories/manga/anime that have the relationship and the 'relations' to go with it.

Even in games, people like a bit of steamy. It can't all be suggestive. It's a matter of personal taste. If you don't like sex, there are more than a handful of things for you to watch and read that have absolute 0 graphic scenes. Anime versions of most yaoi take out the sex too. Gravitation, Junjou, Seiki, Tyrant, Antique Bakery: All had implied scenes, if any for the anime.

Sex Pistols went a little more on the graphic, they showed semen splatter and I'd say R rated implied.
