Are bind breaking sceens over rated

I've seen many animes where the main character or minor character is trapped in either a book/ring/snake or chain like bind. DO any of you think its over rated? especially when you know he can break it? Is it a waste of time to even do?

Such as in shaman king the scene where Hao Asakura is binded in the bead chain and breaks it with out a sweat

It's not overrated. It's overused.

in The first episode of Bleach that happens.

It's not very common though from what I've seen, considering that it isn't really possible to break through chains in real life.

it has its purpose. It´s trying to show just how powerful/smart the character is.
